Ah, yes, the waning splendour of a bygone era. She's still, officially, even Queen of Australia !!?? :) But I think the reality of the situation, with contemporary perspective, is as Vigilant & Zargon have said – the British Royals are simply marvellous for British tourism – all the pomp and pageantry and palaces and stuff. |

link Worth knowing that the Queen isn't just given the money – it's supposed to offset the income originally lost by the Queen because of a deal made back in 1760. link Really, lots of the money she gets is for the upkeep of places she doesn't really control. Plus we don't have to elect a replacement every few years. |
