Wargames Illustrated has pictures of the sprue "created by Wargames Factory of Ultramodern multipose warriors. These were never released prior to the deal made with Warlord Games. The idea behind the sprue is that you can use the weapons attached to the arms or the spare items to create warriors from a number of different armies, so you can use the AK74 arm and a suitable head for Russian troops, the M4 arm for US forces or the SA80 arm for UK troops for a range of theatres of operation." Now that is GREAT! 28mm cheap (expected) infantry! link |

It goes on to say "that Warlord Games have re-designed the sprue to include more torsos and legs, so you can construct more figures per sprue but still have a range of weapon and other options." Like these:

ohhhhh potential Imperial guard proxies for 40k if the pricing is right. |

Good looking sprues, though I am left wondering how accurately the basic uniform can be used to represent various current militaries. However, for near future anti-zombie special forces, mercenaries etc. these look very promising. The amount of weapons is pretty mind-blowing, though. I could count over 30 weapons per sprue, including several rocket launchers. That is a plenty of spares to use for all sorts of conversions! |

This will be a definite must have purchase. |

It is a really interesting selection of weapons… should finally allow me to create those Polish forces i have wanted for ages! |

Darn, just when I said no more figures until I have everything I currently own assembled and at least primed. This promise is out the window. |
shaun from s and s models | 03 Feb 2016 9:08 a.m. PST |
those look very good, ideal for modern coin ops games |
PilGrim | 03 Feb 2016 9:14 a.m. PST |
Hmm – the RPG ammo looks wrong – seems as though they have done the warhead \ projectile but not the propellant \ booster??? |
22ndFoot | 03 Feb 2016 9:36 a.m. PST |
Will the Minimi and other section machine guns be included as well? Otherwise it will be tricky to construct squads/sections with the right weapons. |
PilGrim | 03 Feb 2016 10:00 a.m. PST |
and the guns look a bit oversized too – but I suspect I will still buy them :-) |
Griefbringer | 03 Feb 2016 10:42 a.m. PST |
Will the Minimi and other section machine guns be included as well? Looking at the sprue pics, there seems to be included L86 LSW (or actually two) for the Tommies. If you look at the assembled figures, the kneeling one with balaclava actually has one in his hands (plus an RPG strapped to his back just in case). Other than that, I cannot spot any other weapons with bipods, though underslung grenade launchers seem to be available in decent numbers. |
Griefbringer | 03 Feb 2016 11:12 a.m. PST |
Actually, on closer look there is another weapon with bipod, though it is not very well visible. This weapon seems to be the Chinese QBB-95 light support weapon, and again two of these are included on the sprue. Should provide some extra firepower for PLA anti-zombie teams (though apparently there is also an export version firing 5.56 NATO rounds). |

Those are nice, seems like its based more on the Call of Duty shooter games with the wide choice of weapons than any actual national army…..looks like it would be easy to produce the special forces types and the opposing forces from the same box as well. |
Dogged | 04 Feb 2016 6:53 a.m. PST |
There are AK74s, Galils, M4s (maybe the H&K versions too?), L86s (with LMG version?), launchers both underbarrel (H&K, M203) and big RPGs… Lack of Minimi is a big fault, but there's no AK LMG neither. Nor sniper weapons, maybe another sprue would have them? The combination of this sprue with the survivors and the bikers (this one unreleased too) ones give HUGE possibilities… |
CAPTAIN BEEFHEART | 05 Feb 2016 5:44 a.m. PST |
On the 'survivor' packs made by the same company there are boatloads of spare weapons as well so there are no end of weapon choices. Rifles, pistols, shot guns and even a revolving grenade launcher. |
Lion in the Stars | 05 Feb 2016 7:42 p.m. PST |
Still needs the belt-fed LMGs, though. |
Valator | 06 Feb 2016 12:33 a.m. PST |
I see they kept the nifty stackable sprue design. That's cool. |
Balthazar Marduk | 06 Feb 2016 3:46 a.m. PST |
I think I'm going with this after finding out that The Walking Dead is going to be using those stupid dice with the dumb pictures on them instead of numbers. |

Possibly a zombie topic (pardon the pun), but having bought a few different SAW/LMG options from various sites, the best scale fit I've found is this one from TAG: link |

Dogged ..the sprue "created by Wargames Factory of Ultramodern multipose warriors. ..never released prior to the deal made with Warlord Games. ..Warlord Games have re-designed the sprue.. so you can construct more figures per sprue but still have a range of weapon and other options." refering to their own "Project Z" Im sure. They do look great. But it also makes one wonder; "what else did WF have produced, that was never released?" Private Matter just when I said no more figures until I have everything I currently own assembled and at least primed. Dont feel bad. If we all kept that promise, the industry would go into shock. LOL |
Griefbringer | 20 Mar 2017 6:35 a.m. PST |
But it also makes one wonder; "what else did WF have produced, that was never released?" There was the WF biker set, that was previewed somewhere by WF but never released by them. It has been released in the Warlond in the Project Z range. Also the WF AWI range was early on publicized as to (eventually) contain six different sets. WF released four of these, while the last two (Hessians and artillery) were first released by Warlord. |

I wish Warlord had not messed with the sprue layout for these guys. Having 4 figures with their bases x2 sprues per box would have been way better than what we ended up with. As it is, you really only get 4 of each weapon family, 4 of each helmet type, and are almost forced to make a anti-tank figure per sprue. As someone who is building them for Project Z, I don't feel quite so restricted to keep my gear nation specific. But I can see where someone who wanted these for some other modern game would be upset. |
Part time gamer | 22 Mar 2017 1:23 a.m. PST |
I can understand "having" AT weapon options on the sprue, even though its generally for an APOC themed game. This allows gamers to use them for 3rd world or modern combat wargames. But I honestly dont see much of need for that type of weapon in that kind of game. But it can depend on how you choose to play your game also. "HOWEVER'.. I think making only a limited number of options, if thats the case, so that you 'almost have' to make one of the figures using the AT options, its kind of putting your 'buyers' in corner. Taking away -their- options to choose how they are built. Again if thats the case regarding number of weapons available. |
Griefbringer | 22 Mar 2017 2:39 a.m. PST |
Again if thats the case regarding number of weapons available. Below is a picture of the sprue contents from Warlord website, compare to the earlier layout posted above. You still get more than enough parts to equip all of the models with assault rifles. However, the selection of left arms seems to be rather limited, there being no extra ones.
|
roving bandit | 23 Mar 2017 10:35 a.m. PST |
There are enough assault rifles of your choice if you don't mind doing the customizing using the loose guns. There are only 4 of each weapon family (M4, AKs, etc.) with the arms already attached. There is not enough of the armor add on bits (groin guard, butt cover). There are exactly 8 left arms, one of which is designed specifically for the anti-tank weapon options. |
Lion in the Stars | 28 Mar 2017 4:53 a.m. PST |
Can't believe that they didn't include RPKs, those have a distinctive long barrel. I also would have included some alternative magazines for the weapons, like the classic drum or the newer Betamag. |

Looking over WLG's Project Z site Ive noticed the game itself has been Out of Stock for a bit. Either they cant keep up w/ demand, or not enough demand to 'hurry' restocking. But more to this post. Ive also noticed that the Special Ops set is no longer listed, at all. Perhaps an oversight. Or have they decided to D/C them all together? They had a few of the sprues during the "Clearance Sale" not too long ago. Perhaps for the Spec Ops, it was more of a Clear OUT Sale. |

But more to this post. Ive also noticed that the Special Ops set is no longer listed, at all. Perhaps an oversight. Or have they decided to D/C them all together? They sometimes have products disappearing from the webstore and re-appearing again later on. Happened with the Zulu War plastic sets. I would not expect a plastic set that has only been a couple of years on the market (and that is pretty unique amongst 28 mm plastics) to be discontinued lightly. As for the Project Z game, I have no insight – but it seems that Warlord has quite a number of other new product lines that they are currently focusing on. |

Thanks Grief As for the Project Z game, I have no insight – but it seems that Warlord has quite a number of other new product lines that they are currently focusing on. Oh yea, Bld Rd Skies, Strontium Dog, etc. That's the one thing about our hobby: 'The latest Hot game". There's always something around the corner. You can never know when your game may no longer be supported or pulled out right. |

'Project Z' hoped to cash in on the TWD craze a couple years back, but sales may have been disappointing and nothing new has been released for the game in quite a while. Not to mention Mantic Games' 'The Walking Dead' was released at around the same time. Something's got to give. |

28mm Fanatik 'The W D' was released at around the same time. Something's got to give. Yea. Osprey's "Last Days" rules didnt help either. Hopping but not holding out to see them again, but ya never know. |
nnascati | 12 Oct 2018 1:49 p.m. PST |
Really nice set, something I've hoped to see for a long time. I suppose if one added some heads from the male survivors set, you could do all sorts of SF operatives. |
Part time gamer | 14 Oct 2018 12:03 a.m. PST |
nnascati, IF your just finding this I hate to tell ya, but it looks like you wont be getting these or the Male survivors anytime soon if ever. Qk Ck of the site: Of the 7 sprue sets still listed, 4 are listed as 'Temp Out of Stock'. And have been. All Box sets are also listed as Temp. O.O.S. Including all language versions of the core game. Well, time will tell, or maybe it already has. |
