Back in August I posted some work in progress shots for some scratch built sci fi walls. Well,I've finally finished them, they've had their baptism of fire, so I should post them up here.

The wall are modular: they work for raised areas…

And rooms and corridors.

I've got plenty more to build, but these are a good start. You can see more over at the blog: link

Bill – Can you give us a little more detail on building materials and texturing? They really look great! Thanks.

Yes! It's 6mm cork tile. The tiles are textured, so it's just a case of painting them. A base coat and a couple of drybrushes and they look a treat. I love cork over foamcore for that reason (and because it's easier to cut and because it's more durable).

Thanks, Bill. The green-gray drybrush on the inner panels was a great choice.

Thanks. I was tossing up blue-grey, tan or green-grey, and green was the winner.

I have experienced the frustrations of modelling with foam core like you, but could not think of an alternative material. Thank you, Bill, for sharing your idea of using cork!

Happy to: hope it works for you. The king of all things cork, where I got my inspiration: link
