Is the double width artillery template used as well as the square one or is it an update and used instead of it? I don't mean the larger squared bombardment artillery template.

Also, wouldn't using metric centimetres make the gaming table a little bigger?

Thanks all

not sure what your meaning about the template but yes, FOW weapon ranges would be more realistic in centimeters.

Hi Ironwolf

In other words, can the double width artillery template be used instead of the square artillery template or do you need them both?

It is used when more than …. 6? … Guns are used. It is not a substitute.

And for a "devastating bombardment", you use s template 4 times the size.

By careful placement of the template, one can use it to do the double or quadruple areas.

As for myself, I would rather make my own out of plexiglass. Too expensive.

I'll just get the square one and flip it to measure larger areas then.

Well, the centre section of the double width one IS the square template so if you just get the big one you could save yourself a bit of money.

That's true

Thanks Rabbit

When you have large artillery batteries (6-8 guns) you can either re-roll misses or use the double-template.

As for centimetres vs inches, you can use either but you have to stick to one when you play a game; you can't measure in inches and then switch to centimetres mid-game.

I usually play FoW on a 6x4 area if the game is under 2000 points, anything larger and we use 8x4 or 8x6.

Just get the double width template, it's got a center 6x6 square template marked on it. And you can just flip it once to get your 12x12 "LP of Doom(tm)."

Also, wouldn't using metric centimetres make the gaming table a little bigger?

Not really. Measurements are given in both Standard and Metric so that players can use either depending on what country they are in. The measurements are then rounded off to a whole integer of the opposite system to make things easier.
