What were typical barracks space per soldier in the Victorian? I know that there is a specific amount of required space in British barracks so I wonder if other nations' barracks, and barracks in fortresses rather than in garrison.

This is from the Osprey Warrior 83, so take it with a grain of salt.

In 1857 a soldier typically had 450 cu feet of space. It was recommended and approved that they should have 600 cu feet of space for better lighting, heat, ventilation, and sewage disposal.

Note that 600 cubic feet of space is a 6x10 room with a 10 foot ceiling.
