What were typical barracks space per soldier in the Victorian? I know that there is a specific amount of required space in British barracks so I wonder if other nations' barracks, and barracks in fortresses rather than in garrison. |

This is from the Osprey Warrior 83, so take it with a grain of salt. In 1857 a soldier typically had 450 cu feet of space. It was recommended and approved that they should have 600 cu feet of space for better lighting, heat, ventilation, and sewage disposal. |

Note that 600 cubic feet of space is a 6x10 room with a 10 foot ceiling. |
