So I'm buying into one. Why did you pick one over the other? |

Start with a danish or a prussian army. You can use them against French and Swedes. Later you can add russians or bavarians. That is what I am doing because I can not make a decision, too :-)

Or go for Nine Years War (aka League of Augsburg)! |

Do both, Prussians and Danes and several smaller German states provided troops for both conflicts. |

I bought a bundle of Wargames Factory boxes, infantry, cavalry and artillery, for WSS. They are both flexible and generic enough to represent many countries. So far I've done British and French, Dutch in the pipeline. They are comparatively cheap and I will be supplementing them with some metals. I'm sure they could be painted up as Swedes and Russians and have some pikes added with a bit of modelling skill so could be used for the GNW. |

Dixons are doing a Grand Alliance or WAS armies for half price. |

GNW – the Swedes versus nearly everyone! It seems like the battles are smaller and have more movement and fluidity to them, i.e. not a slugfest wargame. Check out the Warfare Miniatures range of 28mm GNW Swedes and Russians. |

GNW, because it is VERY war game-able. |

The slimmed-down, natural-looking sculpting on the Warfare GNW is very appealing. On the other hand, take a gander at those beautiful Ebor WSS figures. You don't say if price is a concern, but if so,you can fill out WSS with plastics, as JD said. Also, compare Ebor and Warfare for their brigade deals. Of course, shipping from UK enters in. Cost is an issue with me,so I'm doing WSS with Old Glory 10MM,GNW with 1/72 plastics. But I pine for the others(sigh). |

Wow -I'd have a good look at that Dixons offer £180.00 GBP down to £99.00 GBP It's shame I've got so many of the sods already!! Fantastic figures too. |

Mike, why do you bother asking these questions? You know you are going to do both anyway. |

Start with GNW, and then expand. If you want something really interesting, Charles XII was supporting the Jacobites (mainly to get money) and there was suggestion that Swedish troops could have been landed in Scotland to support James. Some nice alternative history to game! |

My vote is for GNW…you can start small and work your way up as you add more units. In addition to the Swedes and Russians you can also add Saxons to the mix over time. |
D6 Junkie | 01 Feb 2016 8:07 p.m. PST |
But of course Joe! I guess it's more a matter of which I do first. |

I went for the WSS. I was going to go for the GNW, but didn't mainly because I felt the WSS was more balanced. My impression is that it would be very difficult to strike a balance between hordes of Russians and Swedish Super Men. If I were to pick now, I'd probably go WSS Peninsular… |
