Fellows:

What colour would work best for a pig…I need something more specific than "pink". Its a pig that is slung over the back of a donkey so I assume its dead if that makes a difference or not I know not.

Also, is there anything specific about painting donkeys that will make the figure more donkey like?

Thanks in advance

What kind of pig? There are many different breeds. Some are black. And it depends on the period you're looking looking at. I'd check some History of Husbandry sites.

For donkeys, best things to make them look asinine is the pale ring around the eyes and the pale muzzle and the pale belly. If you can see any of the back or rump, there is a black 'cross across the shoulders and running down the spine.

Pig depends on time and place. If appropriate, saddlebacks look interesting and spotted pigs are okay.

I believe it is only fairly recently that pigs were bred to be plain pink.

HHmmm….the pig is for the 1600's

didn't know there was so much information needed to paint a piggy.

Thanks for the donkey advice

Swine vary a lot. You can pretty much get away with earth tones.

For that period, I think you might get away with black or reddish Browns (bit like the Tamworth breed)
