Put a couple posts up on my blog about building a more appropriate gateway to fit with the wall set I'm using for my "Bala Hissar or Bust!" scenario. I'd pressed a Medieval European gateway into service as a placeholder, but my scratchbuilt replacement, though very simple, fits much better. I built it out of blue and white styrofoam, put together with hot-glue, a piece of model RR rubber stone trim, spackle to bind it all together and fine ballast white-glued to the surface to add texture. Here's a link to the first post, showing it in mid-construction -- link …and here's one to the second post, showing the finished product -- link …and finally, a couple of teaser pics:

MG: You are the Pan. Knew you could do it and you did it very well.Matched the color of the other walls nicely.Did you ever manage to get a game in with your son on this board when he was on break? |

Thanks very much for the kind words, Dicymick, Bob, and Jeff! @Rhinygyll: almost, but sadly, no, too many other family activities, including trips to Santa Barbara and Duncanville, Texas (?!?!), for he and the rest of us to watch his 15 yr. old sister play basketball. Still, it was great to have him back home for a while, and hopefully we'll manage it the next time. I have however schedueled an actual game on this layout for this coming Saturday, though we'll be using c.1880 Second Afghan War Brits & Indians in place of c.1840 First Afghan War troops. Still, it should give me a sense of how well -- or not -- the scenario works, hopefully with an emphasis on the former! |
