Here is a group shot of the 16 minis in a standard box of Imperial French Line Infantry for the Eagles of Empire range, launching in late February.

Great figures. Shouldn't the ensign be an officer?

Dave Gamer23 Jan 2016 3:39 p.m. PST

Those would look great for my Volley & Bayonet forces, 'course I only need 12 per unit….

Captain Cook23 Jan 2016 6:00 p.m. PST

The flag in this period was carried by long service senior NCOs as far has I'm aware of.

These look really good, interested to hear more about the rules which will be accompanying the figures.

The Franco-Prussian War has interested me, though I hadn't considered starting it as a game project. However, we need to support manufactures like this, or we will NOT see more, so I'm definitely thinking of getting a box each when they launch.

@Space Ghost: Thanks for the supporting words! A lot of time any money has gone into this project. I launched the EoE range to promote interest in this dramatic period in European history as it sets the frame for two world wars, but also to give gamers and period enthusiasts a comprehensive range of crisp 28's along with a modern gaming system, covering the entire war, including both the imperial and republican phase. Your words are very encouraging – its nice to know that more than 18 months of work is being appreciated.

@Hecoma/ Captain Cook: Thanks for the comments guys, its always good to discuss these kind of details, and I really like the investigative part of the project. I did quite a bit of research pre-sculpting, incl. visits to Les Invalides, Paris and the newly opened Gravelotte Museum in Lorraine (which I can really recommend to any period enthusiasts!). I've seen privates as well as NCOs designated as ensigns in imagery – but that's when we look at the Line Infantry. The Guard is a different story (which we will get back to in wave 3 – spoiler alert :0)

I will definitely be ordering these. My only disappointment is the lack of bayonets. This is not a historical criticism, just a personal preference. Just as I don't like WWI or II figures with bayonets fixed, I prefer earlier periods to have them.

Space Ghost24 Jan 2016 7:56 p.m. PST

I think the plan is to supply separate bayonets in the box sets you will be able to attach if you want.

Chanzy25 Jan 2016 3:48 p.m. PST

@Tom Scott / Space Ghost: exactly, bayonets will be supplied separately!

Great news! Looking forward to these even more now.
