I was wondering if there's any information, or has anyone done stats for the army of Saxony for Black Powder? I've done an online search but haven't turned up anything. At the moment I'm working on some of my own (in case my search comes up blank) stats: Based around French organisation and tactics. Essentially they're like average quality French, except for the Grenadiers and Lieb Grenadiers who are slightly better, but their line infantry battalions don't have skirmishers (they had dedicated light infantry battalions that provided skirmish cover). They can, however, form the Pas de Charge. Does this sound basically correct? Have you done your own Saxon stats for BP and what conclusions did you come to? |

Essentially they're like average quality French, except for the Grenadiers and Lieb Grenadiers who are slightly better, Just treat them the same as French then. BP stats are too granular to depict slight nuances. |

Did you mean "not granular enough" to depict slight nuances? No sarcasm here, I just think you said it backwards. |

Do you mean Saxons of 1813 or the inferior Saxons of 1809 or the even more inferior Saxons of 1806? |

Good point. Are we talking about the Saxons who switched sides, or the Saxons who ran away? |

Ah, yes, should have stipulated. Well, ideally both. The bulk of my forces are 1810-1814 so after the reforms, hence using the French as a model. For 1806-09 I would use a Prussian model, I think. I was wondering if anyone had done the research and posted something online. At the moment that person might be me! I will share what I come up with. |

Switching sides has imho nothing to do with quality of troops but of politics. Not all Saxon units ran in 1809 nor in 1805/1806. A lot show their qualities. |

Also not all Saxons witched sides in 1813, atleast some Kuirassiers followed napoleon into france. |

indeed. I would argue that the Saxons gave a rather better account of themselves in 1806 than the Prussians did, especially considering that they were press-ganged allies (Stiole a leaf from the book of Der Alte Fritz there!). |

There will be a separate list for Saxons in the upcoming 1812 supplement for BP. |

Yes, the much promised, but so far semi-mythical 1812 supplement. |
