Bonjour Chaps,

Just announced today by Front Rank!

"What's on the design bench?…… PRUSSIANS!
28mm NAPOLEONICS :- Napoleonic Prussians 1808 – 1815.
For many years customers have been asking us to make Napoleonic Prussians.
The good news is that design work has already started on what we are planning to be a comprehensive range of Napoleonic Prussians for 1808 – 1815.
We hope to have the first releases available in April 2016 with more releases planned during 2016/17. Updates on progress will be in our newsletters."

Very interesting indeed and I'm looking forward to see how they fit in with the Calpe range.

Cheers,

Paul

Good to know!

Thanks Paul, would love to see some Cuirassiers. My guess is that they would fit pretty well with Calpe. Especially the newer sculpts FR has been doing.

Just to second that mention of the newest sculpts. The anatomical proportions are very good lately. Not a Hobbit in sight! The castings have always been exceptional crisp and detailed, with not a trace of flash. However some folk were a bit…..stocky……. shall we say?

Years ago, in a telephonic conversation with Alec, he asked me : what should I make next? I said : Prussians. OK he said but Calpe make outstanding Prussians in the same style. So I said : then make Poles, and I sent him a lot of info, and he made them and the Prussians were forgottten at that time.

Wish FR would do 1806 Prussians!

How about some Spanish LaMancha lancers?

Interesting that they are called Reinforcement Packs.

I had wondered why produce yet more Prussians in exactly the same format as the existing Perry, Calpe etc…..

For some variety of course. Some do show different poses……but not those above!

The things you can learn from the Internet…

I thought…………OK, I admit that they have given the Fusiliers blackened leather equipment, but seemed to have "forgotten" that the ammo pouch was carried in front on a waist belt.

Of course it was. I "knew" it was and I found a Knotel print (and many an illustration) to "prove" that.

Then I went to Calpe' Veteran site. See Fusiliers for a very detailed description of the true differences twixt Musketeers and Fusiliers. No belly pouch………NCOs maybe….and no command set yet for Fusiliers in Front Rank Releases it seems

Prussian Fusilier command is there – PSNRPK7.

Hard to tell from the photos but I assume the Fusiliers have the correct straight short sword, or there'd be little point in doing them.

Pity these are coming now. I did most of my Prussian buying in the run-up to the Waterloo bicentenary.

However I will gladly buy Landwehr to replace my Warlord plastics. Was never happy with them. I hope they are next.
