"I do not wish to be unkind or unhelpfull but I am unable to continue this correspondance. I am sure you will be able to order figures from the USA to your satisfaction." If I received that response I'd have to seriously wonder why this guy was running a business in the first place! The complete lack of customer service and civility in that response is astounding. That would be a business I would never deal with (after that response). |

Glad that wasn't me. "or are they still the disproportioned lumps of lead that I bought?"
JJ, while this was a tempered comment compared to what you wrote in your explanation above about the minis, I would imagine that it probably caused the conversation to veer down the wrong path. That said, in any business, one does a lot to get new customers. Trying to them off isn't a typical business practice for most as it is just self defeating. It is up to the business owner to try to right the course of the conversation but everyone handles things in their own manner. Was he/she wrong? Absolutely. That said, I have noticed that customers are much more civil in my day job (business to business might be the reason) than retail. In retail, I am fortunate that 99% of my customers are civil even when I screw up. However, there is that 1% that get under my skin and I just need to temper my responses at times. Sometimes though I slip … Again, glad that wasn't me. |

I wouldn't give them my money after that exchange. Blows my mind that in this hobby they would treat their customers like that. |

Some customers are more trouble than they're worth. He politely declined your custom, as should be the right of any merchant. Get over it. |

"Get over it." Get over what-? He was asking for feedback. "He politely declined.."
Really-? You actually consider that a polite response?
The question as phrased is fundamental to the type of business the merchant is in. |

That said, in any business, one does a lot to get new customers. Trying to Bleeped text them off isn't a typical business practice for most as it is just self defeating. I've found that some business owners on TMP (not the majority, by any stretch, but some) do everything they can to off potential customers. There are many business owners on here that I will not do business with because of the attitudes they have given me, when all they had to do was say nothing and I wouldn't have known the difference. |

FWIW, the firm in question is not an advertiser here on TMP. Well, that explains it! |

Asking a busy small business as second job enterprise for pictures – especially comparison shots – is always risky for multiple reasons – some people don't have cameras (not everyone wants a not so smart phone,) some can't take pictures worth a damn, some are exceptionally busy with real life, some only cast on demand, yada-yada-yada. An individual customer may or may not be the center of the universe, especially given the language they use in their messages. No matter what your prior messages if you reached the level implied in your "pipe cleaner dipped in wax" statement I probably would consider just flat blocking your emails. And I don't run a business. Actually "the lumps of lead" would be enough to consider dropping you as a customer on second thought. Such comments do not better relationships with companies I suspect. Nor do they suggest repeat business. |
