In the first-edition rules on page 3, it says: To form a Group during battle, units need to Reform. But next it says: If two or more units are so arranged at the start of your turn, they may be moved together as a Group… So I'm confused. Do Groups need to be declared at the start of the game? Should they be? After the start of the game, can new Groups be formed from adjacent units without a Reform? (I don't have access to my 2nd edition rules right now…) |

2nd edition doesn't mention using Reform to make a group. However, the Reference Sheet says, "…instead of moving, 1MP can be spent to detach (or attach stands within 1")". I think that means you could spend 1 MP to "suck in" 1 or more stands within 1" of an existing group to that group – I assume neither the group nor the stands being "sucked in" could have moved otherwise during the turn. |

It cost one point per unit to join the group. The "reform" command is a list of things that you could possibly do. You can move the group 1" in any direction for instance. I am readint his from Mighty Armies Ancients as I can't seem to find my MAF PDF. I'll let you know more if I find the PDF |

The reform command is a move command. A stand that is within 1" of a group that is reforming may join the group in any position. Also instead, at the beginning of a turn, if a stand is in position with the rest of the group, you may include that stand with the group. I am not sure if a stand that moves into position could count as part of the group the turn it moves into position. It did not "start the turn" with the group. That is what I gleaned (quickly!) from my copy of MA2. YMMV. |

Use the Reference sheet with caution. It isn't altogether accurate. I'm surprised a new accurate has never been done. |

Is there no new PDF QRS from Rebel Minis? |

We play it that a unit can move to within one inch of a group then be pulled into the group by having the group reform…why not, the commander gave orders to the unit to go over there and join those guys, then the group praetorian orders his Boyz to make way and form up… |
