I see that Old Glory has light infantry and legion infantry. I know the light infantry are not the legion rifles. I read the Osprey on Fallen Timbers. I cannot find the difference between the legion line and legion lights. Is there a uniform difference? Ben |

The difference as I recall is the headgear and shorter jackets on the lights. |

Yes and no, depending on source and what you want to believe. The Osprey to me is mostly hokum when it comes to uniforms, others may disagree, but based on records and writings I do not believe Wayne was able to dress his troops as depicted (wings on the shoulders, tail-less coats, etc.). In conversations with John Winkler, the author of the Fallen Timbers book, I believe he and I agree that he based his research on what was ordered, not what actually might have happened in the field, at the end of a tenuous, privately contracted, supply line. He and I agree also that what he shows as Wayne's path is mostly a guess (he did the same in the Wabash book) based simply on what was desired as the direction of advance. Swampy areas caused numerous deviations from a straight line of advance. The rifle troops carried tomahawks, and only Frying Pan & Blanket (20mm) has figures for that as far as I know. Light infantry I believe was attired the same as the line, but received a bit more specialized training in light infantry tactics to use against the Indians. And they MIGHT have had light infantry caps. Others may chime in, but I have been studying this for a few decades now and while at times I think I know all the answers, other times I am not so certain. :) Sorry, bottom line to your question would be the only possible difference might be the headgear. |

I thought that the color of the plume on the helmet was the only significant uniform difference?? The Old Glory figures are nice and as far as I know, they are the only Wayne's Legion figures that are made in 28mm, so if they don't have a tomahawk I wouldn't let that dissuade you from using the OG figues. |

Parkfield make a more accurate line of 25/28mm Wayne's Legion. Admittedly I helped with the design of the figures in terms of uniform details. They size up fairly well with Old Glory. The light infantry are in caps. And I forgot, the rifles are carrying the proper tomahawks, so Frying Pan in 20mm and Parkfield in 25/28mm make tomahawk carrying rifle troops. link Pics from Moccasins Yahoo group: link link |

I was at Fallen Timbers just this past October. It'll be nice if they are able to restore the ACTUAL field of battle,on the other side of the highway, rather than the river flats where they thought it was originally. |
