I have seen pictures on the web from the Warmaster Magazine of 10mm castles & forts. I know Games Workshop never did terrain for Warmaster and the Forge World dwellings are not the ones pictured. Even the Battle of the Five Armies rules book has a castle picture in it. Any one know what company produced the ones pictured in the magazine? |

I don't know. However, I have a kit that can make 10mm castle walls. I haven't actually used it yet and have had it for 2+ years now but I'll get back into warmaster, probably sooner than later, and start building it. If you PM me or email me it will remind me to look up the name of the kit if you are interested. |

The castles in both books are scratch-built, with the exception of BoFA's plastic "ruins of Dale" wall remnants and one keep pictured in the Warmaster rulebook, which the caption reveals is a conversion of an expensive tourist shop resin model converted for wargaming. However, Torshach Miniatures offers two excellent paper models (one free) for Warmaster, and Sally 4th makes a terrific line of laser-cut MDF castle walls, gate, towers and even a Norman keep. I don'r (yet) have the keep, but the wall system is easy to build and quite versatile. I think they're worth the cash, and the folks behind Sally 4th are great to deal with. EDIT: Great minds, Black Cavalier. Here's my review of building Sally 4th's fortress walls and tower: link |

I actually have one of them somewhere. I'll have a look, seems they were a reoutable company. (If you are interested, I'd be coerced to part with it…) |

2 defunct companies – DLD miniatures and Kilroy LTD made 10mm castles. The DLD one was cast as resin pieces and each wall section and tower needed to be assembled. It was fiddly and the resin pieces were warped when I got it. DLD went out of business and took a lot of peoples money with him when he did. the killory castle pieces Walls and towers were cast a single piece and of much higher quality. Not sure if anyone ever bought the molds from him but if you can track them down his stuff was great. Here are some pics of a siege game I did several years ago with the Kilroy stuff…. link The keep at the center was from Forge World. |

A company called Supreme Littleness Designs makes a 10mm MDF castle kit: link It looks pretty good to me. If cost is a crucial factor, the paper-craft Torshach Miniatures castle is a very good choice. I bought the kit and it is easy to put together in cardstock and looks good, IMO. |

No problem WeeWars, I'm always happy to mention good-looking products relevant to projects people are interested in! The range of laser-cut products people have developed over the past 5 years or so amazes me. The 6mm laser-cut napoleonics I've seen in posts lately (I don't recal who makes those), and the 3mm structures from Supreme Littleness really push the envelope (in a good way). |
