Hello all.

Everyone who is currently dealing with orders in limbo with AOW after their sudden disappearing act in December will be interested in this.

Out of nowhere I received an email from Ebay informing me that my claim was concluded in my favor and that they were able to recover $65.00 USD from AOW, for the special order Perry minis that were never shipped. Money will be in my account within a few business days.

I do not know if this means that AOW is still functioning and is honoring refunds for incomplete orders, or if there was some other account that Ebay was able to draw on to process the claim.

But, this is good news because it means that if you are currently stuck with an AOW order you paid money for and it never shipped, Ebay is able to get your money back!

I would put in a claim immediately with Ebay if you have any money stuck in limbo with AOW!

While that is good news for you, they were able to get your money back. They may or may not get someone else's money back. Agreed, a claim should be filed promptly.

So I had this happen to me so let me explain how it works. I had some comics someone disputed condition of and put in a claim. When the claim is filed ebay puts a block of those funds in your paypal. if you don't have the funds it will put your paypal balance into a negative. Once the claim is resolved. The money is either credited to one side or the other. If that leaves you in the holes you must resolve it. Luckily the claims were found in my favor, but it is all automatic. So getting your money was just the system working on its own.

Tyrela,

Thank you for explaining that, that is hugely helpful!

That's a really important detail to know! A lot of TMP members who are having problems with AOW were under the assumption that in order to get your money back from Ebay in a dispute case, the miniature company itself actually had to have the money to pay back the customer.

This is actually even better news, because it means that everyone who is currently stuck with AOW can indeed get their money refunded.

Thanks again.

Not everyone…

To be clear you have to have a claim that is found in your favor. In my case the condition was valid and ebay found in my favor and gave me back the funds. There was a back and fourth though,, so I imagine if I had not responded it would have gone the other way and I would have been stuck with the negative balance.

Then those who ordered from the store website and not ebay are out of luck I would suppose.

I am so sorry, I meant to say PAYPAL in my original post!!! All references to Ebay should say PAYPAL!

Baranovich15 Jan 2016 5:53 p.m. PST

Hey all,

I feel like an idiot…. just want to be clear, I ordered through AOW's site and used their shopping cart. I paid with Paypal! It was Paypal that handled my dispute and resolved it in my favor, NOT Ebay!

All I had to do was elevate it as far as it could go(to claim status I believe), and write a paragraph about how AOW suddenly closed and the amount of money I had paid for unshipped product. I also mentioned that there were many custmomers who were in the same situation.

The only documentation Paypal needed was the email showing the original invoice from the order.

Sorry again for my error!!!

I did the same, Baranovich, with two unfilled orders. I followed the PayPal dispute/claim process and within two days received notice my funds would be credited. Indeed, within a couple more days, I received the refunds.

Fairly easy to do, so why wait if you paid through PayPal? Don't allow the time limit to expire, which I believe is 180 days from the date you paid via PayPal.

You have to show that you have contacted the seller and tried to resolve this amicably. I did and having got no reply was able to show this, the system worked for me.
