I'm going to be running a game of Tomorrow's War 40k pretty soon, and I was wondering if from a fluff perspective I could use my 20mm modern infantry for the "renegade" Imperial Guard troops that the Space Marines will be fighting. I ask because I have loads of 20mm terrain, my IG aren't painted, and the space marines are supposed to be 8 or 9 feet tall anyways right? Basic scenario will be about 2 fire teams of marines and a weapon or 2 attacking and trying to clear a village held by a reinforced platoon of Imperial Guard equivalent troops. |

That would be perfect as a normal human would be 20mm by comparison. link |

Yes I think that would work about right. |

What a great idea! I have been thinking about trying to make some true scale space marines when the easy option is just use 20mm figures. LOL That would work great.

Thanks everyone! Stealth, While I would not ever dissuade you from using the one true scale, the ancillary costs of buildings and new AFV might be prohibitive, and I don't know anyone who does 20mm sic fi tanks. Have you considered the old inquisitor 40mm stuff? besides that having GW space marines on a 20mm battlefield would be easiest. Now to re base them… GW bases may make them just a bit too tall… |

Actually that far into the future humans would be taller than they are now. |

Critical Mass Arc Fleet tanks are easily 20mm: link I use these too: link |

Also…Scalecreep was kind enough to send me this pic of a 1/72 fig with a Brigade tank:
I am also reading that the 25mm Denizen Scifi line meshes size wise with HAT figs. |

huh. yep all that stuff would work nicely. I learned my new thing for today! I'm not primarily a sci fi gamer, this is just a game I am putting on for some friends who are 40k only gamers. I have a bunch of 20mm stuff since I play moderns and ww2 in that scale (among others) and a bunch of old GW stuff from my 40k days. the basic plan right now is going to be SM patrolling through a village (I've got about 12 buildings to put out) in a search and destroy mission. SM forces: (all troops have bolter rifles in addition to other stuff) elements, 3rd company Ultramarines chapter scouting party 2x Fireteams each of: 4x SM with rifles 1x space marine with flame thrower 1x space marine with HMG 1x SGT Bad@$$ 1 squad of 5x jump marines in case things go south Facing them we have the gallant human defenders (modern Germans) Elements, 17th Panzergrenadier regiment, 9th Panzer Division (all forces have rifles unless otherwise noted) HQ: LT PSGT RTO FO Medic 3x squads each of 1x IFV (British Warrior IFV's or American Bradleys) 1x Rifle team of 1xSGT 1x Grenadier w UGL 4x Riflemen 1x MG Team of 1x Gunner w MG 1x Asst. Gunner 1x AT Team of 1x Gunner w Pzfst 44 1x Assistant Gunner 1x Sniper team 1x MBT (Challenger 2) This may sound like a lot for the humans, but I suspect the only things that can actually hurt the Marines are the vehicles and the rockets |

I use GZG 25mm infantry v space marines and it makes the space marines (and ogryns) look suitably intimidating. They are still based on 25mm bases, but it's sufficiently cheap enough to get OpFor for the "Valiant enforcers of his imperial majesty's policy doctrine". |
