I thought Patton was the only soldier ever to pee in the Seine?
(well, in his own mind, anyway)

Several years ago, for some odd reason, a number of figures came out in 1/35 of soldiers doing their "business." So if you want to build a diorama of soldiers urinating or taking a dump, there's some stuff out there for you…

Patton peed in the Rhine, not the Seine. Well, maybe he relieved himself in the Seine as well, but he famously peed in the Rhine.

I peed in the Rhine as well.

I am afraid my pedantic historical mind comes into play when I look at these scenes. Someone has put a lot of effort into this diorama but two points strike me when looking at it . If this is 1940 then why does the Panzer III have a long 50mm gun and refugees don't normally advance towards an invading army.

Garand13 Jan 2016 3:14 p.m. PST

You're right. I was going to say "well it could be a training exercise in '42 or something," but I noticed the TC in the Pz III is wearing the tanker's beret, which would have been gone by then. Interesting diorama, but not very accurate for the time period…

Also the guy with the bike on the end of the dio is wearing an M43 cap, so a few problems here…

Yes, it was the Rhine Patton peed in…I was getting confused with when he reported to Ike that he had spat in the Seine.
What a truly charmless, over-rated, individual he was.

Maybe he is peeing in a Russian River? (smile)

Well, as he spat in the Seine, and peed in the rhine…I can't help feeling he was building up to something else for a Russian river

Yes there are anachronistic elements. As you say long barrelled 50mm gun, but no turret bin – they were factory fitted long before the long 50 was introduced. Also the tank commander has the early panzer helmet under beret which was long gone by '42. Nice modelling skills though!

Who knows, maybe it is Russia and the civilians are loyal Volksdeutsche flocking back to the Greater German Reich?

The cyclist has an M43 field cap on, so unless he is a cycling Gebirgsjager (and I'd expect the brim to be shorter if so) perhaps this is supposed to be early 1943?

Aren't we mean!
