Was wondering how much space folks leave around buildings?

For scale 5mm seems about right but for minis been thinking at least 10mm base for the building.

What have folks found to work well?

Thanks!

Enough to fit figure bases and vehicles.

I made some a while ago and although there is a lot of space, it doesn't have to look empty.

More info here and construction information on my site

Thanks.

So you do it in blocks, I was looking at singles with a border.
But yours looks really good.

Will have to decide, how to do it.

Yeah I went for a unusual town design, being Scifi :-) Because the buildings were scratch built they needed to be based.

@ kmahony111

Damn me but if I don't start drooling everytime I see that scifi city of yours ;-)

Here's some pics of my 6mm city board

Everything is magnetised, that way I can vary the distance between buildings for say infantry or vehicle and individually based or stand based games.

Looks good!

And in some ways that's the major hing – if it looks good and not overly crowded, that's the right spacing :)

Thanks again all, good stuff.
Looks like I got a line on the new mats I needed, so I should have some prototype 6mm buildings up in about 2 weeks.

If interested, check out this blog post I did on some city building for our Polyversal game. link

It ends up being 4' square with 4 total 2' square boards which broke down well for transport to a local con a week ago. The streets were laid out scaled from a NYC satellite view using google maps and block sizes created accordingly. There is a bit more space around the buildings off the streets, but, I like the street sizes and extra space for maneuver. To-scale city streets and large buildings give it a nice look and a bit of a feeling that the units are in an actual city. It was all done in 12 days including detailing those buildings. Fun stuff! Lots of super glue!

Some walls I am testing, about 8mm high atm.

Will do larger area and enclose 3-4 buildings I think with room for models.

Buildings are monster Apoc.

Have a few of my own coming from looking at Brutal Style buildings.
