Could anyone suggest suitable figures for an adventuring company for 'In Her Majesties Name'?

They are tempting and I am considering them but I would prefer troops in the Bergmutze or mountain cap.

IMO, Brigade Games Austro-Hungarians are nicer, more varied sculpts: link

YMMV, of course.

OK, I know this isn't the question you asked, but the Austro-Hungarians adopted a tropical uniform when they were on Crete, helping to separate the Greeks and Turks in 1897. White clothing with a mixture of kepis/cutdown shakos and sun helmets. There are a couple photos here: link
Of course, nobody makes figures for this obscure campaign, so you'd have to convert. I'd probably try using German colonial marines (Sea Battalions) as a basis. Old Glory makes these in their Boxer War range link
Pulp Figures makes some nice Germans, too link Brigade Games has a few useful packs in their Great War in Africa line link
Askari has also started to make some possibly appropriate figures link
Finally, if you'd like to blow things up, Reviresco does some artillery with pith helmet crews as well as marine infantry link

Have to agree with Jeff Ewing, Brigade games makes the best Early War WWI Austrians. They also have officers, MGs and mortars which the very nice Renegade range does not.

Brigade are nicer but harder to source in the UK than Renegade unless Northstar has them in stock.

GoodOldRebel09 Jan 2016 3:04 p.m. PST

The Brigade Game Austrians are superb but sadly as Prince Rupert of the Rhine said Northstar don't stock them.

The German contingent already seems to be quite well represented in our little unofficial club so for my Austrians I think it for the best if I avoid too many obviously German miniatures?

Postage shipping overseas is reasonable – much more reasonable for larger orders. As we ship orders overseas every business day it must be reasonable. Of course shipping 1 or 2 packs is never going to be cheap but it gets more economical as the order total increases.

The problem with ordering from outside the EU isn't so much the shipping charge, its the 20% VAT plus the Post Office's £8.00 GBP (@$15) charge for declaring the VAT for you.

The Old Glory WW1 Austro-Hungarians are in the Early War uniform with the standing collar, although I think they may have puttees (I would need to double check). I've thought they might be good for the old blue uniform used before the introduction of Hechtgrau.

I took a look at my Old Glory WW1 Austrians (that I never got around to painting), and they have the standing collar and *no* puttees. They look a lot like the pre-1908 uniform but without the gaiters. I checked my sources, the stand and fall collar that most companies produce was used only on the 1908 linen uniform (which was rare), and on the 1916 woolen uniform.

EDIT -- the stand and fall collar was used unofficially beginning in 1915 on wool tunics made in German field gray.

Thank you cplcampisi I will give them another look

Scarab Miniatures are worth a look

GoodOldRebel07 May 2016 5:48 a.m. PST

I do like Scarab Miniatures but if I can avoid helmeted figures I will do? The Emperor Franz Josef had a soft spot for the Jaeger so I might end up going with them after all?

Saying that I do quite like Scarab's senior officer set?
