We are looking into Public liability insurance for our club (wargaminghq.org)as part of targeting a wider (less wargaming) audience Might someone recommend a provider? The Gaming Club Network provide an insurance service. Are they worth paying into to get their insurance? I have sent them a message for a quote as I cannot find 2016 rates on their site.

Why not ask the venue if they reccomend anyone, but also get an idea of the extent their insurance coverage afforded to you. At the least it gives you an idea of what gaps you'll need to cover.

It is the venue that suggested this. They are a Methodist Chapel and I would not doubt their opinions in any way.

Insurance for a gaming club? And here I thought the US was the most litigious country in the world.

Good luck.

@jdpintex,

Insurance for a gaming club? And here I thought the US was the most litigious country in the world.

You probably not aware of this, but even gaming stores that have after hours gaming either have it written into their policy, or take out another policy, or depend on dumb luck that nothing happens.

Try NFU- we had to find PL insurance for a small community company and they gave best quote.

I'm not sure that I understand what you are having to insure against.
Presumably the hall must have third party accident insurance if it is used by other groups which would cover someone slipping over on the premises.
If the club stores scenery etc in the hall presumably that would be covered by the halls insurance, and if someone drops a model then someone will mend it, or if it's really expensive, it will be covered by the owners home insurance.
What else is likely to happen?

the hall will be insured for damage for which the owners are liable for, if sensible they will want the hiring club to be liable for damage for which the club/its attendees cause. keeps their own premiums down.

£170.00 GBP from the craft guys. I could not find a relevant page for NFU PL insurance, any ideas?

gbowen,

Our club has it's own premises and we do games and displays in the community and in museums.
We have our Insurance with AON with the Public Liability brokered though Bollington Insurance Group.

Hope this is a help

Mac
