The third battalion of the 45e Regiment de Ligne completes the fifth regiment of the eight regiments in Marshal Victor's I Corps d'Armee for Talavera and concludes work on General Lapisse's 2nd Division.
The 2nd Division took part in fighting over the two days of the Talavera battle and the 45e Ligne played a leading role suffering 388 casualties including Colonel Barri who was wounded in the main attack on the afternoon of the 28th July 1809.
