I am using Christopher Duffy's book on the Russian campaign in Switzerland, and there are many OOB. The Russian infantry units seem to be listed by their Colonel's name (?), not as per the regimental structure, and 1797 flag structure.
For example, at Zurich (page 214 of the book), Musketeer regiments Razumovsky, Koslov, Markov and Sevesk are listed, yet I cannot find the first three, (the fourth I believe to be Sievesk regiment), listed in the 1797 lists of regiments (ie Azov, Dnieper,Tomsk)

Has anyone any information on how I can identify which units with colonel's names link to the 1797 lists of regiments ?

I have just purchased a copy of Dragon Rampant for some occasional, not too serious, fantasy battles. Reading therein that the Combat system – apart from fantasy troop types and magic of course! – is basically the same as that in Lion Rampant, I wondered if anyone with experience of the latter could advise me whether using Dragon Rampant for Medieval battles would work successfully. I'm more interested in the WotR era than the earlier period.

You can find all sorts of answers here:

I think the author provided stats/rules for a Medieval version of Lion Rampant. He's doing Dark Ages next.

There is a WOTR retinue list here in the files section near the bottom of the page. You have to register to be able to download the file, but it's a relatively painless process. The list is worth the effort.

Hi Desmondo,

I think these units may be combined grenadier battalions, which were named after their commanding officers. Have a look at Jonathan Gingerich's excellent site on Russian Facings of the Napoleonic era and you will find details there: link

The section you need (Combined Grenadier Battalions) is close to the top.

Arthur,

Why don't you just buy a copy of Lion Rampant and get all the information and statistics you need???

That's what I thought SJ, but the names didn't match

A Col. Count Razumovsky and a Maj. Kolovsky are listed. Maybe it is something to do with the way the other names have been rendered in English? (Or it could be I have got it totally wrong – I find Napoleonic War Russians confusing at the best of times).

For the Russian regiment thread:
Razumovsky = Old Ingermanland
Koslov = Staryi Oskol
Markov = Murom
Sevesk = Sevsk under MG Tuchkov

Thanks to those posters who replied to my question, especially Cyrus the Great for that very useful link.

ColCampbell, after discovering some online adaptations of LR for ECW I decided the extra outlay was, indeed, worth it so took your advice and bought a cheap copy via Amazon.
