Are they? The majority of polls are missing an option that seems reasonable. Plus, I'm often suprised that though I think I'm checking regularly, I'm still missing them and rather obvious responses aren't being included. The long lag time between suggestion phase to live phase may account for it. I wonder if TMP Poll Suggestions should be called out in some way even though their actual importance is, in the scheme of things, quite minimal. I bothered to post this because they are fun and a reason to pop in daily. |

Broken? No. However a few suggestions. What is the point of running a poll that was suggested four years ago? Not all poll suggestions need to be run as real polls. Don't run polls that might affect your source of income. By the same light, The Editor is not obligated to follow the results. Also, The Efitor should have some way to rig the results. I can think of a few. Contradicting the above suggestion, where the heck is the French and Indian Wars board? It "won" a few months ago and is nowhere to be seen. If you are going to run a poll on a new board, then set it up if it gets the required number. Finally, people should realize that if Custer was not mentioned in the Greatest Light Cavalry Leader poll, it's because he was not nominatedin the original thread poll suggestion. |

Oh, I thought this was going to be a critique of the polls I have suggested… The Editor does a good job of adding some structure most of the time – a standard set of "default" options that may or may not have come up in the prepoll. I've noticed a few prepoll suggestions omitted, but they're usually mine and usually buried deep in a long prepoll thread. What might be useful (are you listening, TMP 4.0?) is the ability of the suggestor to amend their OP in perpetuity (under a "tear line" with the "standard defaults", maybe) to add the "legit" additional options as they see them. Kind of a self-moderating of your own suggestions. Shift a bit of workload and blame off the editors… |

The majority of polls are missing an option that seems reasonable. The discussion period is for readers to suggest all needed options – be sure to participate. I don't always think of everything. The long lag time between suggestion phase to live phase may account for it. Most polls run within 6 months of being suggested. I also run one poll daily from the "old" file, as there are some good ones still. What might be useful (are you listening, TMP 4.0?) is the ability of the suggestor to amend their OP in perpetuity (under a "tear line" with the "standard defaults", maybe) to add the "legit" additional options as they see them. Kind of a self-moderating of your own suggestions. It would be useful if the original poster comes back to his suggestion topic and sums up what he thinks should go in the final poll. |

This whole site seems to be turning into the Lancaster Host of the internet. It's falling apart quickly with seemingly no end in sight… |

I have recently seen the OP of a poll suggestion have a hissy fit meltdown when "his" poll was not run EXACTLY as he wanted. It was quite amusing to watch. |
