I had overlooked posting this information here, but during the holiday period I have added two DBA armies to the Severan collection; the Meroitic Kush (I/58) and Nobades (II/55a).

The project was an experiment to recycle an abundant stock of seldom used figures and on completion of the two armies, I am very pleased with the results.

Interesting! I've considered adapting Fuzzy Wuzzies for such an army, too. Which specific figures or ranges of figures have you used? For example, I don't think that anybody manufactures 15mm Fuzzy Wuzzy archers.

timurilank06 Jan 2016 6:10 a.m. PST

Skeptic,

The archers are OG Amorite (SY05) bowmen with beards trimmed off.

The cavalry are OG Indian Medium cavalry (IN03); hair and shields were added using Milliput.

Fuzzy Wuzzies are a mix or spear and sword types from the OG Colonial range.

Cheers,

Looking at the 1/58 list you presented, was the Elephant dropped as a General option in the final book or did you just not include it in your presented list? It seems every time I have the money for the DBA 3 book, it is unavailable, and when it is available I lack the funds.

PR,

I/58 lists the general as being either Cavalry or elephant mounted or 3/4Bw.

As they represent the nuisance option for the Middle Imperial Romans (armed with artillery) I decided not to take that risk.

Robert, does indeed look good! I have put my Libyan Egyptian army on hold because I'm not sure of skin tones. What color/paint did you use for your Egyptians?

Thanks,

terry

Terry,

I am still old school in that I mix my paint.

I use a 50-50 mix of Citadel Rhinox Hide (Base) and Mournfang Brown (Base).

This appears rather dark, but then highlight the muscle, shoulders, and other areas I will add a bit of White or Flesh to that mix and thin before applying.

For leather goods or shields I will use the same mix but add red or orange to it.

Cheers,
Robert

Terry37, Libyans were always depicted in Egyptian art as white. I would suggest painting their skin in the same palette as you would use for greeks.

Thank you for the confirmation, Timurilank. I have been thinking of doing a Meroitic army as a part of my 500 BC project specifically because of the elephant general :-)

@timurilank: Thank you!
