Getting some my Team Yankee Soviets together. Though a few of you would like another comparison shot. First 4 Battlefront T-72s next to a Zvezda Abrams and T-72. The Zvezda T-72 has had it's reactive armor trimmed off.

Nice one. I've got to take some pics of the BF ones against the new Khurasan model and QRF to share. I've been pleasantly surprised at how close in size the Khurasan and BF models are (unlike the T55, which was stupid big from BF), along with the Zvezda T72b. The Khurasan turret is slightly smaller though. Very slightly. |

The auxiliary fuel tanks on the Battlefrotn T-72 look a little small, Tally Ho! |

Hmmm, link is to German and Austro-Hungarian WWI aircraft manufacturers. So, as a general guide, how do they measure up with one another? Always difficult to tell from some pics, unless they are completely end on, side on, or directly from above. Even then, if more than two models are compared, the ones on the sides can be a little distorted. Looks to me like the BF and Zvezda are a pretty good match, size-wise, with the Zvezda model being perhaps slightly smaller. Then again, perhaps it just looks that way, since it is slightly to the rear of the one beside it. Is it difficult to remove the T-72 reactive armor? |

Zvezda, BF and Khurasan T72 hulls are to my naked eye at worst a very close match, the major difference between them likely measuring less than 2mm. The real deal breaker for me in running them together in one unit is the size and shape of the turret, and the level of detailing on the vehicle. Things like hatches, hull panelling, side skirts and headlights/periscopes vary between the three (though some of these features are indistinguishable at gaming distance. |

McWong I was thinking of getting BF T55, do you mean is far too big? Do you know how they compare with Old Glory or QRF do you know. |

Wow! I posted the link in the biplanes board and it mutated. The same thing happened to Tango and one of his posts, |

Worryingly, ours are 1:100, so in reality a little big for 15mm. (6ft = 1.8metres. At 1:100 scale = 18mm) Nothing should be bigger, or they will actually be closer to 20mm… |

The BF T55 is somewhat larger than the Khurasan and Peter Pig models. Don't have the QRF or OG for comparison. I've only QRF T64's, so can't compare apples to apples, but QRF model MST01 (64a?), the BF T72a and Khurasan T72a have virtually identical width and length of the hulls. The BF turret is larger than Khurasan's in height and width, and all three have a 120mm gun whose length is seperated by less than 1mm, to my eye at least. I've assembled a complete BF T72, and have partially assembled a Khurasan T72. The BF model has a higher rear engine deck, but the road wheels, track width and skirts are really close to each other. There are three Khurasan models and ten BF ones on my workbench (wife got me two boxes but they've been delayed, so another twenty on the way) that I want to finish assembling, I'll take happy snaps and share as I go. Both the BF and Khurasan models require careful builds. The BF T72 gun barrel has outright dumb and poorly located sprue connectors that connect directly to two of the three fins found on the T72 barrel. If they had simply rotated the damn thing so the sprue connected to the underside of the barrel there'd be no problems in an otherwise very good kit, but cutting the sprue so as not to damage the barrel has no quick fix. This really slowed down an otherwise super fast assembly. Well, only 29 to go… The BF and Khurasan Abrams models aren't quite as compatible. Picked up six K ones when the pre order was on, and impulse purchased a Team Yankee US box last weekend during a first time visit to a new Sydney store. Am I the only one who guilt buys at a minis store, even though there's nothing I actually need? Anyways, the width and length of each model's hulls are near identical, but the Khurasan model is slightly taller. While the hulls of each are pretty darn close, the big difference between the two are the turrets, especially the angle of the glacis. While the Abrams is a large, mean tank, as a painter they're the most boring vehicles I've ever owned. I remember folks commenting on the Zvezda model lacking detail, but if the Khurasan and BF models of them are anything to go by, the Abrams doesn't have that much detail in the first place. All flat panels and clear lines. |

Thanks for those details. |

Mako, the reactive armor wasn't much trouble to trim off, saw someone else do it online, my apologizes for not remembering who. It's sold plastic underneath. McWong, I also guilt buy. |

79th PA -- yeah, I'm confused too. Anyway, it looks like it might be interesting. I picked up a copy of Austro-Hungarian Army Aircraft of World War 1, a few years ago (and for a lot less money). link It's very detailed and it gave me a very good appreciation of the Austro-Hungarian aircraft, and the difficulties they faced. |
