I hope that everyone had a good Christmas and received all the miniatures and terrain that they asked Santa for. Also that everyone had a good New Years eve.

If you are a Game Master or thinking about becoming a Game Master the time has come to submit your game(s) to us at hmgsmidwest.com.

This years convention theme is "Revolution".

Little Wars 2016 will be held at the Westin Lombard Yorktown Center, in Lombard Illinois. Our old site is being turned into a car dealership. The Westin Lombard offers the following to those that book their stay at the hotel:
-complimentary Wi-Fi in the lobby and public areas
-free parking
-access to the Westin Fitness Center
-free shuttle service within 5 miles of the hotel
(there is a lot within 5 miles of the hotel)
-walking distance to an in-door shopping center
-Harry Caray's Italian Steakhouse located in the facility

All games/events will be located in the Grand Ballroom. All vendors will be located in a separate but adjacent room. The Flea-Market and War College will each be located in adjacent rooms. There will be food and beverage concessions available. There are also many near-by restaurants for those that want to go off site for their meal.

The rooms at the Westin Hotel are exceptional and offer attendees the convenience to take the elevator down from their room ad participate in all that Little Wars has to offer. We have a room block with the hotel and a link can be found on our home page.

In addition to those that book two nights at the Hotel (and stay there) we will be offering incentives.

I plan on running at least two games at Little Wars. One will be a WWI FOW game; The Lost Battalion. We have had a lot of fun playing Great War with these rules and think those that play in it will enjoy. My other game will be a Team Yankee game. I am busy painting for this game and plan on fielding 3 US Companies and 3 Russian Battalions (with supports). Both Games are sponsored by Games Plus Hobby Shop. I am also looking to see if I can pick up another sponsor for the game.

I'm in with two games as well

1). Revolution in the Khyber. Northwest Frontier colonial action using Volley and Bayonet

2). A Scientific Revolution: Adventure in Siberia using Mars Needs Steam.

Preview pictures to come in the next few months.

What are the convention dates?

deleted22222222205 Jan 2016 9:39 a.m. PST

29, 30 April and 1 May. For almost 10 years now Little Wars has been on the last weekend of April.

Thank you.

It is always a good idea to post the dates, over and over again, on any new release about the convention.

Just to be clear, are you saying that the nearest parking is 5 miles away and we have to take a shuttle bus to the hotel?

Wow….no

There is free parking…it is on the same property as the hotel.

The Hotel offers free shuttle service within 5 miles of the hotel. There is a lot, as in places to go within 5 miles of the hotel.

Always thought about going. About how many events and dealers?

Good to have a stable weekend. It was hectic when it was the month opposite cold wars (March or April) and the month of Easter.

Sounds interesting but for over two decades I have been committed to the Recon show in Orlando.

Last year we had 210 events. We are expecting about the same or a few more this year. I expect about 25 to 30 vendors, several of which will be new vendors to the convention.

If you look at the website you can get a very good idea on the quality of games. There are a few videos as well.

Some students from Wheaton Academy have been doing videos for us for two years now. They even did a Video interview with "Uncle Duke". I have asked them to do another video interview this year. I hope to continue with this and have a nice video library of those that attend Little Wars that have made contributions to the hobby and to the convention.

We will be having incentives for those attendees that stay at least two nights at the Westin. One will be a drawing for one of several $200.00 USD vendor dollars vouchers. Only good that weekend at the convention.

Some of those that attend conventions in the East might enjoy coming to Little Wars and actually having a top quality Hotel to stay in.

RKE Steve07 Jan 2016 6:52 a.m. PST

Update – Uncle Duke has said he will be attending LW 2016!

It looks like we will also have a very nice figure to give away to those that attend the convention from Old Glory. Thanks to Russ…
