Several members make tantalizing references to family member 's service in the war; I love hearing/reading these. I can't find a dedicated board for this. Maybe I'm just not using the right search words, but if there isn't one, would there be enough interest to start one?

Of course, other websites exist for this, but I'd like to see experiences of wargamer's families gathered in one place. We are a unique crowd, after all, with a unique perspective.

I'm posting this here only because it seems the closest to what I'm talking about, maybe somewhere else would be more appropriate.

For instance,my uncle was killed on the Oklahoma. There's more to the story, but I wouldn't want to take up room on a board where it would be of limited or no interest.

The University of Tennessee has the War and Society project. It is a collection of objects and interviews with WW2, Korean and Vietnam veterans.
Several other universities that focus on oral history as primary sources have a number of dissertations and thesis works in their department library and on file with the University library as well.
My uncle's story was not told to his family but told to a reporter in Flagstaff while he had driven by himself as a triple amputee to California for new technologies. He only made it as far as Arizona. When the newspaper heard about his death later, they sent a copy of the newspaper and article to his mother.
