Just saw a commercial for it.

Evidently they're taking up the Science Fiction standard that the SYFY channel dropped.

Right now they are supposed to be showing the Stargate series. (I wouldn't know, my cable company isn't carrying it.)

"Not yet available in your area"

Never heard of it.

Tons of great Sci-Fi series and movies to be shown, but SyFy runs garbage, instead.

Hope their revenues suffer because of it.

John Armatys29 Dec 2015 12:00 p.m. PST

It would appear to be available only in the United States.

Comcast/Xfinity has it as of just a few weeks ago. I haven't seen it yet, but I haven't had much of a chance either.

I haven't seen Comet TV, but I've found Pivot TV ( pivot.tv ) which airs Farscape, and Buffy.

Comet TV is also available over-the-air in the Denver metro area. You might check in your area and see if it is an over-the -air channel.

I have Verizon and don't have it, on another website I heard someone mention it.

Striker29 Dec 2015 4:33 p.m. PST

I like it. If I'm scanning channels it can have some entertaining movies.

John the OFM29 Dec 2015 5:48 p.m. PST

Apparently it's a broadcast OTA station, and not a cable channel per se..
If the local channel that carries it is on your local cable, voila!

Hafen von Schlockenberg29 Dec 2015 6:52 p.m. PST

Yes,it's a broadcast "subchannel"( .2,.3) for local stations, like Me TV and MyTV and others that seem to be proliferating since broadcast went digital,my guess is because the tight beam on digital broadcast allows for it.
A cynic might say it means old people who won't spring for cable or go streaming can watch their faves from the nadir of tv era like Gilligan's Island and Beverly Hillbillies.

And said cynic would be right.

There is some gold among the dross, however:Me or My, I forget which, runs original Superman and original Star Trek on Saturday night, along with the resurrected Svenghoulie (and Batman and Wonder Woman AND Lost In Space AND Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea,if any of those turn you on).

As for Comet, many of the movies they run are real bottom of the barrel stuff.Lots of junk from the 70s and 80s. Apparently they can't afford the drive-in fodder from the 50s and 60s. At least that has historical,or at least camp, interest.

They have shown Zone Troopers,a film I have a fondness for.
And they also run Men Into Space, maybe the first "serious" dramatic space series ever, from about 1959 or so. Unfortunately it's on at 7AM Sundays.

If this sounds great to you, heaven help,I mean you could try disconnecting your cable and plugging in a digital antenna, they're pretty cheap. Maybe that old antenna's still up on the roof.

And maybe Comet will move up a grade if they get enough eyeballs to attract higher paying advertisers than Chia Obama and "Crack Cream".

Saw a promo for it. Recommends rescanning your digital converter box to get it.

Hafen von Schlockenberg07 Jan 2016 8:45 a.m. PST

That's MeTV that shows the ones I mentioned earlier. They also show "Thriller" about 4AM.
And now,for fans of he-man action, there's GritTV,"Television With Backbone". No sf/fantasy that I know of,but some war movies, and lots of Chuck Norris(cue jokes).

Hafen von Schlockenberg11 Jan 2016 5:37 p.m. PST

Comet showing Destination Moon right now. That's more like it! Now, how about Rocketship XM?

Hafen von Schlockenberg12 Jan 2016 4:10 p.m. PST

All is forgiven! Comet is now showing Burn,Witch,Burn! (from Fritz Leiber's "Conjure Wife").

Hafen von Schlockenberg28 Jan 2016 5:58 p.m. PST

And I resurrect this thread to announce that Comet just showed The Creeping Unknown/Quatermass Xperiment. Good job!
