A video from the 1970's TV show Battleground. This time Chalons using what I think might be WRG 5th with Attila played by Bob O'Brien.

Miniatures will never be a spectator sport.

I remember watching this as a kid. I wonder how it would play now using either FoG or a DBx style set of rules.

That is so cool…but yeah crud spectator sport. If it had Terry Wogan calling the game, different story!

Terry Wogan -good call
-"And here they come -the little fellas -to do someone a great mischief" etc etc lol

It's confusing even from a wargamer's point of view never mind what the general public would make of it. Why did the Director not tell the players to refer to the troops by their type such as Archers, Light Cavalry, heavy foot etc. rather than referring them as "those chaps" and "those gentlemen"? pretty funny.

Maxshadow29 Dec 2015 12:57 a.m. PST

That would have improved the experience

Probably did more harm than good at bringing folk into
the hobby. Referring to " the Rules " but not saying what "Rule Book" gives it an almost elitist attitude.

But then the Peter Cushing and his model soldiers footage describes it as "a hobby found among the Distinguished Classes ".

Lucky for a peasant like me the late 70's had Airfix models and Military Modelling magazine.
