I have been impressed by some pictures I have seen on-line of 1st Corps Successors and Scythians. Can anyone tell me how they compare in size to other ancients, such as Aventine and Crusader?

Sorry can't help much but I just bought some 1st corps Indians to mix with my old glory classical Indians , the foot and Cv look very mixable. The 1st corps elephants are a lot bigger than the OG but seem the same size as the one aventine successor elephant I have.
Hopefully someone else will chime in after they done with holiday stuff.

They are very nice miniatures but smaller than the Aventine/Crusaders. They would work better with Newline, Relik, Agema or the older smaller Foundry Ranges I'd say.

My Aventine and First Corps ancients look fine together

How about the horses? Aventine horses really aren't that big.

PS, funny how ranges can vary in figure size. I have Wargames Foundry Scythians done by Michael Perry and Aventine Parthian horse archers. Surprisingly, the Perry Scythians are much larger in both man and horse.

It's all very subjective, of course. I am very conservative about mixing different ranges.

Hans. I too have put some Aventine cavalry on Foundry Scythian horses and they do seem a better fit. Most of the Aventine horses match well with Foundry figures. I agree with Simon though, the first corps figures are the size of the Perry sculpted Foundry Ancients, hence smaller than Aventine foot or the Copplestone/Saleh sculpts. There is a size difference, but it's a matter of individual taste whether that is important. I think the first corps Scythians (which is a fairly new range) and the successor cavalry are some of their best figures.

1st Corp paint up even better than they look in the pictures. I find their horses a bit wooden at times. Nice range. I have Crusader, Aventine and 1st Corp in my Punic War Roman army and they look fine in separate units side by side.

As to sizes, it has been my experience that as long as you use the same company's minis in a unit, that you can use as many different company's minis as you like.

Most of my Macedonians and Indians are RAFM or Ral Partha, but I have 1st Corps, Crusader and others as well. Keeping them within their own units works just ducky, and I haven't noticed any complaints about differing sizes of minis on the table in any of the games I have played.

I have 1st Corp Pechenegs, they are bigger figd like Gripping Beast. I also have their Xhosa, similar size to Foundry & Copplestone Darkest Africa troops. Xhosa are stunning!
