Reading it now
Good pace and even some new incites and tactical firefights
And yes there was a Ferdinand thrown into the mix

Yeah…I lost interest when i saw that Beevor could'nt be bothered to research the difference between the SD and(of all things) the waffen SS.
And while i quite liked his battle of berlin book, he continues to make mistakes when he(i'd guess) just decides to fore go basic research. His stalingrad book is a very readable account with a great amount of personal information on the plight of the axis prisoners and the "air-bridge". But he falls into the "Goering promised Hitler he could air supply the 6th army" trap when its been recently shown the Goering promised no such thing.
And his book on the Crete operation was not very good, either.

I thought it was a good read, especially in reviewing the roles of Eisenhower, Bradley, Hodges and Montgomery.

That said, I still think the best overall review I've read is probably Trevor Dupuy 'Hitlers Last Gamble'.
