NCC1717, I have a few questions, since I'm interested in trying out your rules for fleet actions. I see from the following examples, that it appears the first line is for shields being up, and the second line is for shields being down (presumably the second line also represents hull strength remaining too). Starship's log example of progressive damage (DN): 3 2 1 0 0 0 0 Crippled Destroyed 0 1 2 3 2 1 0 Starship's log example of progressive damage (DD): 1 0 0 Crippled Destroyed 0 1 0 So, based upon the above, it seems the following charts would apply to the CAs, and Scouts(?): Starship's log example of progressive damage (Fed CA & D7): 2 1 0 0 0 Crippled Destroyed 0 1 2 1 0 Starship's log example of progressive damage (Scout & Frigate – just like the DDs?): 1 0 0 Crippled Destroyed 0 1 0 When are vessels considered to be crippled, and/or destroyed, e.g. when their bottom stat line reaches zero, or only after the last zero of the bottom line is crossed off? Can you provide an example of damage vs. one of the vessels, so I can see how the hits applied to it should be checked off? Do all shields need to be down for firing all weapons? Finally, any thoughts of creating stats and weapons charts for a Gorn fleet? |

Used to play SFB with cardboard. Planning on 15mm ground ops. Might do minis with Federation Commander. |

Mako11, The log examples are not actually two lines, just one line of fractions (e.g., 3/0, 2/1). Initially the DN has three shields up and none down (3/0). After one hit it has two up and one down (2/1). You are correct about the form of the logs for the CA/D7 with two shields and the Scout/F5 with one shield. The DN would be crippled by seven hits and destroyed by eight, assuming no opportunity to put shields back up. The fourth hit on a DN (from 0/3 to 0/2) is the first permanent damage, in that the destroyed shield cannot be put back up thereafter. Note that a ship at full speed can only have one shield up, which for a DN is effectively the same as having two hits. All weapons can be fired with all shields up. I don't have fleets of Gorn (just two ADB models), so I didn't consider them for the fleet rules. I hope this helps. |

tnjrp | 23 Dec 2015 12:31 a.m. PST |
No. My landing party troops do tend to die like redshirts tho, even if they are better protected and armed. So maybe Starfleet has a point: why put armour and guns on 'em gruntz since they're gonna croak anyway. |
Martin Rapier | 23 Dec 2015 5:36 a.m. PST |
No, although I used to play SFB. |

I used to play Lou Zocci's SFBM link & the aforementioned SFB way back, still got them hidden away somewhere. However, much preferred SFBM to SFB, as did my giant space cat |

I own several of the Wizkids' Attack Wing ships. Used to play a lot, now I'm just more of a collector. |
Ghostrunner | 23 Dec 2015 8:50 a.m. PST |
Yes. Using Wizkids Attack wing ships for Federation Commander. I've been re-working the SSDs so systems aren't so scattered around the ships (all transporters in one group, etc.), and setting them up so the ADB races are replaced by the canon races from the various sources: Federation/Klingon/Romulan/Gorn/Tholian = Unchanged (but new ship backgrounds) Kzinti = Vulcan Lyran = Cardassian Hydran = Dominion Andromedan = Borg ISC = Breen No real difference in gameplay, just means the alliances from ADB's universe are a little chopped up, but I don't play huge games very often. |
Garand | 23 Dec 2015 9:33 a.m. PST |
Yes, using Star Fleet Battles: A Call to Arms. Played SFB a few times in the past, thought about picking up FC, though ACTA is about where I want it for space gaming… Damon. |

Curious by away teams… This role playing or something else? In my case, 15mm ground combat with Tomorrow's War, though I suppose I could just as easily use Infinity for a smaller exploration party. |

I use Johnny Lightning ships to play a homebrew version of Full Thrust in the original series' setting. And I had a roleplaying campaign I tried to run, but everybody wanted Star Wars. |

I love the ship combat pics. Thanks. Generally unless I run a solo game, they are very few and yrs between. TOS period is the best. That show spoiled me. I love ADB's ST mini's, the "2400 series", especially Zocchi's plastic Feds. If only' he had done the Klingons as well. I have come up with my own "light cruiser", customizing his platic tug. Have also had some luck converting the DN into the DNH by cutting, repositioining the engines. Does anyone recall "Task Force Games Elite" line? Basically all but the Gorn ships were only about 1 inch long. The series numbers started w 5000, so I refered to them as; the 5000 series. Bought a dozen+ of them and did a lot of converting. If I can figure out how to post pics, I'd be glad too. Computers not my thing sorry. Shapeways does some realy nice ones. but you Have to measure the size (not scale) of the miniatures you use, so they match up. IF I get any from shapeway, I "think" those listed as 4000 scale would work best with ADB. |
Captain Gideon | 04 Jun 2016 7:52 a.m. PST |
I play using the FASA rules mostly and since I have mostly FASA miniatures mostly but I also have some of the Star Fleet Battles miniatures as well I think I have between 100 and 200 minis. |
