Are the new "army list" books worth the cost if I just want the background and setting, or should I stick with the novels? Thanks |

You can get away with just the novels probably. I think all the rules are on line for free. This is if you are talking about the bloodbound and Stormcast books. There are some neat scenarios in them but I'd get the two big books first and play through all the scenarios in those first. |

The large campaign hardbacks are worth it if you are wanting to play through the battles you have read in the novels. Would get my vote. The Battletomes… They tend to cover areas that the novels do not. For example, the Dreadhold book has a storyline where Gardus was leading an attack on a stronghold. The Seraphon have the battle where they and the Stormcasts meet for the first time (doesn't go well for the Bloodbound). Think of the Battletomes giving additional context to what is going on. Basically, if you have read the novels and want more, dive in! |
