I would love to that war KTravlos, but where to get the figures?
I already have the fleets from Navwar, so a jump to the land side would be big fun.

I covered the war in last months Theme for the 19th Century Warfare and Wargaming theme. You can find the collected theme posts at

Thanks very much for the info! I was thinking the Boxers would be the best way to go. I think this will also stimulate my dormant Sino-French war project. How exciting!

I used to play some Volksgrenadier second rate troops for ww2 games.

Garbage troops, okay leaders and toting automatic weapons everywhere. Always interesting to observe in play.

"Funny the Italians and Romanians get such a bad rap for WW2."

Well, it has been discussed to death before, and outside of the 'utter drivel' board we could no doubt have a more detailed discussion as to the merits and de-merits of specific units and the structural reasons for their failings.

But in the spirit of a thread about fielding 'crappy armies', I think we all know that compared to our hordes of veteran paras, SS panzer divisions, 2nd Guards Tank Army, The Big Red One etc, the Rumanians and Italians are pretty crap.
