For 2015 what was your:

Favourite miniatures released?

Best new game released?

You can list a top 3 or just pick one.

Choices must have come out this year.
For kickstarted projects, that means they must have delivered in 2015.

PiersBrand09 Dec 2015 11:23 a.m. PST

Battlegroup Blitzkrieg…

For no other reason than I was so chuffed to finally see it in print after nearly 18 months work on it!

As for miniatures, I have been buying Oldhammer stuff so 1987 releases won't count…

Frostgrave Plastics are nice but the stand out for me this year have been the new AB WW2 releases from Eureka.

Dragon Rampant for game…yet to be released but coming later this month. It's Lion Rampant with the fantasy twist. No I have not seen it but I can guess!

Miniatures? Probably War and Empire. I am not into the buying of the new and shiny. But if any qualify, those would be it.

Ney Ney09 Dec 2015 12:45 p.m. PST

Games…. Lion Rampant, Otherworld Skirmish, PSC Great War.

Figures……. Anvil industries sci fi, PSC Great War 15mm, perry light dragoons.

Pendraken's additions to their ER range for mid Tudor battles. Some of the finest sculpts in 10mm that I have seen and painted.

Gotta be the news about Team Yankee – never has a particular wargaming period or genre been given such a shot in the arm by a the news of a new ruleset release!

Game: "Light Bobs"

Not a Miniature, per se, but the 28mm model of La Haye Sainte from Warlord Games is just lovely.

Legbiter09 Dec 2015 2:35 p.m. PST

Game:
Cthulhu Wars. I know it was a Kickstarter but I didn't join that, and bought my copy from a shop when it came on general release.

Miniatures:
Wings of the Great War Hansa-Brandenburg W1,
Corgi Short Sunderland,
Oxford Aviation Boulton Paul Defiant MkI ASR.

Most things I've played this year are things that are well established before 2015, but I did think the best "new" game I tried this year was Bloody Big Battles. I was disappointed by Blucher but BBB was a surprise hit.

In terms of miniatures, the Crooked Dice guys kept up a great standard in new releases. Each set seemed better than the previous one!

McWong7309 Dec 2015 3:42 p.m. PST

Minis wise I'd put Westwind's War & Empire range in the mix. I was truly wowed by the scope and scale of what they brought to market.

Team Yankee minis also impressed me, but that's going by piccies only, same with Khurasan's Cold War release from last week.

Ainsty's Hammer's Slammers models would also figure in the mix for me.

Of course I liked those 5Core game rule systems by some guy called Ivan something or other clever use of a D6 :D liking the New Black-Ops its shiny nice and not a complex tomb of rules too, like that. Awaiting Dragon Rampart which I have a very sneaky feeling is going to be a big hit.
Miniatures. For me the Perry Lads brit Light Dragoons plastics, stunning sculpting, I've painted sooo many figures for clients this year so can't be too judgmental, Eureka have made some lovely additions to their modern range and liked painting them very much, got the warlord Defender of Berlin and their are some gems pose wise there.
Played no new board games so can't say, does X-wing count?
Cheers Ivan

My favorite game was the game I made up for Mad Max Fury Road. It is a mash-up (appropriately enough) of Gorka-Morka and Nuts (Two Hour War Games) as well as my own ideas. It played very well with my gaming buddy and at the Fall-In convention. I also mashed up some GW models for Warboys, Immortan Joe, Joe's biker boys, the Vulvalini and used other company's models for Max, Furiosa, as well as the wives. It was a huge project including all the vehicles, but a huge amount of fun. The gamers at Fall-In seemed very happy playing the game. Jeff and I are evolving the rules away from Gorka-Morka and Nuts to streamline them even more.

3) Light Bobs

Figures:
1) Flames of War Great War, especially infantry and guns
2) PSC releases, 15mm WW II
3) Perry 28mm Napoleonic releases

Were FFG's TIE Defenders for X-Wing released in 2015? I can't recall, but if so, they'd be on my list of faves.
I'm looking forward to opening my Star Wars Risk Black Edition game at Christmas.

Haven't been able to paint for a while now due to eyesight issues, so it's hard fro me to get much excited about new unpainted figs. frown
