I did not get in on the Warmaster scene and now it is gone and the figures you need two co-signers in order to purchase any thing. Could some one who has an Elf Army tell what the figures looked like? The Infantry and Cavalry figures (if there were any, for I do not know). Not so much the heroes and mages. Thanks for your help and pictures would be a great help.

The elves and undead can still be bought for reasonable amounts . It's the later ranges that command a higher prices

The Pendraken High Elves are a pretty good proxy.

I used Kallistra to build my Warmaster Elven and Orcish armies – great figures

warmaster is an all time favorite! luckily, I got my orc army before it vanished. the elves are a very effective army, as in, I can't beat them.

But GW show no reason to keep this game going.

They also show no reason for:

Blood Bowl
40K Epic
Man-O-War
Battle Fleet Gothic
Necromunda
Warhammer Fantasy Battle
Plus many more

Really? I thought they were planning to revive Specialist Games.

I read recently that all the Warmaster moulds had been destroyed. This came on another forum from one of the sculptors discussing the return of the specialist lines. :-(

Check out my blog for oodles of counters for the Warmaster games. I just redid the high elves set.

GW gave plenty of reason to keep the game going. Warmaster is a great game. I think it is one of the best I've ever played. Why wouldn't you keep it going?

There is supposed to be a difference between "make enough money" and "make enough profit", yet GW (and a few others over the years) have cited the latter and then looked mystified when the cancelled games' fanbases were upset.

All of the Specialist Games (or Fanatic Games as they were once called) had a limited shelf life. Once sales levels dropped off why would a company continue to produce the line? It's tough to keep too many SKUs in stock and in print, let alone expect stores to stock them all.

The lesson to learn from the original dissolution of Specialist Games is to buy what you want when you can, preferably too much, wait for the line to be cancelled, and sell the extras later for a significant profit on the secondary market. This can be applied to not only Games Workshop limited releases, but to many other games such as Advanced Squad Leader. That's how I fund my hobbies.

I have the Warmaster High Elf Starter Army set, plus a general on a dragon. I only ever painted the Silver Helms cavalry (heavy cavalry, e.g., mounted knights with lances).

Breakdown is spearmen, archers, chariots, "bolt throwers" (aka ballistae or giant crossbows), "reavers" (missile armed light cavalry), and assorted mages, champions, etc.. Plus giant eagles and dragon riders as monsters or mounts. Typical look is heavy chainmail hauberks (practically dresses) and seriously peaked conical helmets that would make the Coneheads envious. Shields are reminiscent of Norman kite shields.

Stats are typical: 3 attacks or 3/1 if missile. 3 hits per stand. Armor ranges from 4+ (heavy) to 6+ (light), avg. 5+.
So well-armored and armed, but no bruisers (like black orcs) or hard nuts (like dwarfs). Pretty much any proxy that fits that concept will do.

Might have to paint mine up and find some good mixes for it.

The Epic Gamer, great army. Makes me sorry I missed out on getting these elves when they were out.
