The odds of my standing in line at midnight when The Force Whatever comes out are nil. I have a vague interest in what will happen. So, I have no compunction to NOT search out spoilers. I will want to know if the new Bad Guy is really Luke, or his son. I'll want to know if that Daisy person is the daughter of Han and Leia. And so on. I might get to see it in a month or two when the crowds die down, or on TV in a year or two. but I am not going to wait to see what happened. how about you? |
Flashman14 | 08 Dec 2015 10:25 a.m. PST |
I'll try and go the first weekend in the AM somewhere. Mostly because I don't want to hear or read about it until I've seen it for myself. Since I can't block out the world I'm shooting for Saturday morning after release. |
Tgerritsen | 08 Dec 2015 10:31 a.m. PST |
I pre-ordered my tickets online. You can do that now. Technology! No standing in line. Also, the theater near me has leather recliners and full bar service at your seat (they have wait staff with a button to push so they bring you what you want at your beck and call). It's amazing what theaters will do when they realize people hate the old experience of theater going. |
Ex MAJIC Miniatures | 08 Dec 2015 10:37 a.m. PST |
My wife has just booked us in for the latest possible showing (8.30pm) on Monday 21st December. She had to ask '2D or 3D'? As the 3D is an hour later than the 2D looks like I will be watching with specs on. Agree with OP. Based on the trailers I know I will enjoy the film regardless of apriori knowledge. |
Dynaman8789 | 08 Dec 2015 10:40 a.m. PST |
I avoid previews for any movie or show I know I am going to watch. Why possibly ruin it? Planning to see it on Sunday at the earliest IMAX show. Luckily the Imax theater is usually pretty empty, at least till it goes out of business. |
The Beast Rampant | 08 Dec 2015 10:46 a.m. PST |
All or the trailers have left me cold. That, and the garbage prequels may have chemo'ed my fanboy midichlorians well and good. Abrahms is a great director, but despite his Sci-Fi bent, he says "Star Wars" about as much as Terrance Mallet. I'm not interested enough search it out anything. I sat in line for hours for The Phantom Menace (spoiler alert: it's Lucas' eponym); I will see this one on HBO at some point. |
Garand | 08 Dec 2015 11:14 a.m. PST |
Unfortunately not going to see it when it opens, as much as I want to (hard to participate in geek culture if you haven't seen the movie), but my cousin scored tickets for me, my dad and my daughter to see it Christmas day, so a delay of a week. Hope I can survive that long… Damon. |

While I don't share the distaste for the pre-quel trilogy that 99.9% of human civilization seems to have, I'm reluctant to get excited about it. I already don't like the direction they're going with it, but what else is new? But it is Star Wars, and I fell in love with it when I was a child in the 70's-80's and haven't quit enjoying it each time I get. As for the OP – I will probably skim through some articles here and there to see if what I think is going to happen does, if it does, I'll probably write this one off, which nearly brings tears to my eyes, because I've been waiting for a sequel to ROTJ since I walked out of the theater when it was first released, but it's the truth. <heavy sigh>… |
Disco Joe | 08 Dec 2015 11:20 a.m. PST |
I plan on waiting a few weeks before seeing it. If there are spoilers so what. At least it will give me an idea of what to expect when I do go and see it. |
Bashytubits | 08 Dec 2015 12:22 p.m. PST |
No, I am not sure I am even going to go see it. |
WaynesLegion | 08 Dec 2015 12:47 p.m. PST |
I've bought tickets to see it Saturday afternoon. One of my friends was wanting to see it Thursday night, but he didn't realize we already have a commitment for a Men's Basketball game. And then on Friday I have a Final Exam (Senior year in College). So Saturday it is for me. But as to whether I'm going to spoil it for myself: Yes and No. I really enjoy reading about the theories that are everywhere. I think it's kinda fun. But I won't actually spoil it for myself by reading about what happens. |
Delthos | 08 Dec 2015 1:28 p.m. PST |
I got Dec 19th Saturday morning matinee tickets for me and my family. |
JSchutt | 08 Dec 2015 3:09 p.m. PST |
I'm pretty sure it was spoiled a long time ago…. |
leidang | 08 Dec 2015 3:15 p.m. PST |
Don't care, I was a fan as a kid and into my twenties but the prequels killed any Star Wars interest in me. |
Calico Bill | 08 Dec 2015 4:14 p.m. PST |
Same as leidang. I'll catch it on TV someday. After seeing what Jar Jar did to Star Trek, I doubt it'll be more than all action and special effects anyway. |
Ghecko | 08 Dec 2015 4:18 p.m. PST |
Like OFM, I'll wait till all the hoo-haa dies down and then go and see it. |
John Leahy | 08 Dec 2015 5:53 p.m. PST |
I bought tickets the first day you could. My wife, daughter, daughter in law and two sons and I will all be seeing it that first day it's out. I have seen every one of them the first day. My oldest son has seen the second batch on the first day. We are Star Wars geeks and are darned excited to go see this one! |
Cyrus the Great | 08 Dec 2015 5:54 p.m. PST |
I'll see it on a Senior Matinee in an out of the way theater within the first week. |
Doctor X | 08 Dec 2015 10:32 p.m. PST |
Let me save you all a lot of time and money. The Ewok planet is destroyed by an accidental collision with a star destroyer piloted by Jar Jar Binks. The entire Ewok race and JJB are destroyed never to be mentioned or appear again. Oh, I forgot…Spoiler Alert… |
GurKhan | 09 Dec 2015 2:46 a.m. PST |
These are not the spoilers you are looking for. |
Captain Gideon | 09 Dec 2015 2:48 p.m. PST |
Doctor X you're in for a rude awakening because as long as I'm around the name of JAR JAR BINKS will be mentioned because I like the character and I'm getting sick and tired of you and others who want to kill this character. JAR JAR BINKS LIVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
boy wundyr x | 09 Dec 2015 4:19 p.m. PST |
Actually I've heard that Jar Jar is actually the major baddie in this movie. Turns out he's a Sith lord. If I keep repeating that to everyone around me, I figure I'm actually repelling the real spoilers. |
Captain Gideon | 09 Dec 2015 5:12 p.m. PST |
boy wundyr x you believe that crap do you? All this talk about Jar Jar being a Sith Lord is a load of garbage. |
Winston Smith | 09 Dec 2015 6:01 p.m. PST |
Be careful what you say about Jar Jar. Captain Gideon will track you down and smite you. |
Captain Gideon | 09 Dec 2015 7:28 p.m. PST |
Winston Smith do you have a problem with me liking and defending Jar Jar Binks? I have the right to like or hate whatever Star Wars characters. See if you dislike/hate Jar Jar okay fine I understand that's how you feel. But there are people who spend why too much time on how to kill this character in all these vile and horrific ways. So I think that the problem is not me liking Jar Jar Binks but the people who are way too obsessed with killing a fictional character. |
boy wundyr x | 10 Dec 2015 8:08 a.m. PST |
Hey, I'm not killing Jar Jar, I'm spreading rumours that he's been promoted into a Big Deal. I don't particularly believe them, but saying so gets everyone spinning around in circles and they don't get around to spreading any potentially real spoilers about the movie. |
Captain Gideon | 10 Dec 2015 9:35 a.m. PST |
boy wundyr x I didn't say that you're killing Jar Jar what I was saying is that a lot of people are finding sick perverted ways to kill him and that's what I don't like. And for me I don't like to spread rumors or have other people do it because it's just wrong and they're not true. |
Marc the plastics fan | 10 Dec 2015 2:59 p.m. PST |
Cool. Cruel ways to kill JJB. Bring 'em on… |

GypsyComet | 10 Dec 2015 9:29 p.m. PST |
While I don't share the distaste for the pre-quel trilogy that 99.9% of human civilization seems to have I'm one of those that sit the fence. Ep I does not bother me unless you want me to watch the Director's Cut; the original theatrical release is better paced. On the other hand, there is almost one decent movie split between II and III, defined almost entirely by when Obi-Wan is on-screen. Reveal gaffes, "acting", and goofy nonsense render the rest of those two unworthy of repeat viewing. |
Captain Gideon | 10 Dec 2015 10:43 p.m. PST |
GypsyComet just to let you know there's NO Director's Cut of Episode I,otherwise I would have it. Also for myself I've watched Episodes I,II and III multiple times each as I've done with Episodes IV,V and VI as well. |
chromedog | 11 Dec 2015 10:20 p.m. PST |
Tickets are sold out locally for opening day (and the day after). I'll probably end up seeing it AFTER the weekend (so, two mondays time as I write this) – not in 3d and not in gold class (if the seats are too comfy, I end up sleeping. Can be middle of the day after a triple espresso, makes no difference. If I'm too close to horizontal when I watch it, I doze off. The first one I saw on opening day (no midnight session back then) was Jedi. The last one I saw was ep1. |
GypsyComet | 12 Dec 2015 9:59 p.m. PST |
"there's NO Director's Cut of Episode I" Extended Edition. I've seen it played in public places. The most obvious change is that it includes the middle lap of the pod race, which the theatrical release did not. |
Captain Gideon | 12 Dec 2015 11:21 p.m. PST |
GypsyComet do you have the DVD of Episode I? I happen to have the DVD right in front of me and there's nothing on the package to indicate a Director's Cut/Extended Edition. Yes there's some extra/extended scenes in the DVD but there's nothing on the package that tells you anything so it is and it isn't. Look at it this way if someone bought the DVD and watched the film for the first time they wouldn't know if it was the theater version or a slightly different version. Unlike what the LOTR and Hobbit films they say right on the package Extended Version so you know right then that it has extra footage. So to correct myself I was partly wrong but I'm also partly right. |
GypsyComet | 13 Dec 2015 12:54 p.m. PST |
I have the two-DVD release. It mentions the extra scenes as a "documentary", not as part of the stream of the movie itself. Yet I've seen the movie played with those scenes inline. |
Captain Gideon | 13 Dec 2015 2:15 p.m. PST |
You are correct but the DVD package doesn't say if it's a Director's Cut/Extended edition. In fact even the original trilogy when it was redone with new/extended footage never said Extended edition on the package. |
TamsinP | 14 Dec 2015 3:45 p.m. PST |
***Spoiler Alert*** Kylo Ren is the only offspring of the marriage of Jar Jar Binks to an Ewok. He is cybernetically enhanced with parts from an old model human-cyborg relations droid. |
Captain Gideon | 14 Dec 2015 6:25 p.m. PST |
TamsinP if you're trying to be funny it's not working. Spewing lies like others have tried before so if I were you I'd fact check my rumors before you say anything. |
boy wundyr x | 15 Dec 2015 9:27 a.m. PST |
I enjoyed it Tamsin, I'll try that on someone later today. |
