The text of the article is only in German. Sorry.
But there are a lot of pictures of the museum.
First part of the article is about the 16th up to 19th century.
Have a look at the nice uniforms. You can see the off-white of austrian napoleonic uniforms, some relicts of the Maximilian adventure and a lot of more.
Have fun.

It is a fantastic place – the old officer's mess of the Vienna garrison and the first purpose-designed military museum in the world

A great place to visit – when we were there they had a display with many models from the Austrio-Hungarian Navy

Vielen Dank für die Bilder meiner Freundin

Beautiful. Austrian uniforms were issued as unbleached wool and whitened by the troops with pipe clay. Ottenfield illustrates this very well in his uniform plates. I would imagine the uniforms quickly became quite dingy on campaign.

Years ago, I made several trips to this museum to see the uniforms, until I found out that they were reproductions.

Except the Arch Duke's bullet holed uniform I hope.

It is one of the better military museums in the world.

Yes, well worth a visit!

I agree, a fantastic museum.

Although when I visited the floor with the Napoleonic and other 19th Century stuff was closed for refurbishment! Still, it means I do need to go back.

Seeing Franz Ferdinand's car and uniform though, that was quite something.

Thanks for sharing your photos with us. It's the next best thing to being there ourselves!

Among the best military museums the world and the most fascinating.

They have certainly brightened it up a good deal since I was there in 2005. It was very dark and poorly lit in the lower galleries.

My favourite part was the naval gallery on one of the upper floors.

Ohhh. Thanks a lot for all of your replies. I'm really fascinated that so many people visited the BLOG entry, although it is written in german.
In the next year some articles will also appear in english.
For my english "fans". ;-))))
