Too bad that Gunner Dunbar and I aren't on the same continent – we could have some interesting games. :)

15mm Chaos – Iron Warriors, Cultists and Daemons (with a Reaver Titan to boot):

And Necrons:

Nicely done.

Rogues102 Dec 2015 2:16 p.m. PST

Tons of well painted figures. That is pretty awesome looking, love to see it in person. Great job.

Kropotkin30302 Dec 2015 2:24 p.m. PST

Love the metallics on the Necrons. Very well done.

Gunner Dunbar02 Dec 2015 2:24 p.m. PST

Wow, very nice.

Redroom02 Dec 2015 4:32 p.m. PST

very nice looking forces

darthfozzywig02 Dec 2015 6:03 p.m. PST

Great stuff!

Now you need to post up your how-to and proxy models information!

Gunner Dunbar's work is fabulous and the information has been really helpful.

Oh – and your 15mm Eldar grav tank conversion from the weapons platform was BRILLIANT.

McWong7302 Dec 2015 6:48 p.m. PST

Lovely work.

Lion in the Stars02 Dec 2015 7:11 p.m. PST

What did you use for the Predator tanks?

Twoball Cane02 Dec 2015 7:17 p.m. PST

Awesome

So… model lists…

Chaos:
Iron Warriors: Prydian Retained Knights from The Ion Age
Cultists: Khurasan Andromedan Cultists
Daemon Prince and Bloodthirster – GW Chaos Marine and Bloodletter models, lightly bashed
Leman Russ and Basilisk: Proxie Models, spikified
Predators: Rebel Minis Earth Force APC, spikified
Vindicator: Rebel Minis Titan APC, modified and spikified
Titan: DreamForge Crusader Titan, spikified
Daemonettes and Plaguebearers: Daemonworld (don't remember the exact armies they're from)
Nurglings: Khurasan Munchers
Flesh Hounds: Khurasan somethingorother
Furies and Bloodletters: Blood Dawn

Lava pools and volcanic cone from War Gamma.

darthfozzywig – thanks. :) Not much how-to on the Chaos stuff, as the majority of it was selecting models that looked the parts. For the vehicles, I just added 40K bits until they looked right to me.

For the Necrons, all of the Warriors, Immortals and Deathmarks are from Rebel Minis The Scourge line (using different poses/heavy weapons for the Immortals and Deathmarks, differentiated by weapons color).

The scarabs are from Reaper's Bones line (using beetle swarms… surprise!); the Wraiths are made from 2 GW Necron scarabs each, plus some guitar wire and plasticard.

The remaining models (Destroyers, Annihilation Barge, Canoptek Spyder, Doom Scythe and Doomsday Ark) were kit-bashed from GW Necron and Eldar bits. I might put together tutorials if there is enough interest, but some of the bits can get a bit pricey.

Necron terrain is from Brush4Hire, Underground Lasers (the pyramids are just 2 sets of large barricade corners joined together) and GameCraft Miniatures.

This was like finding a picture of an old girlfriend you hate and reminiscing about the good Ole days, then remembering you hate her

So… model lists…

I <3 you. :D

I might put together tutorials if there is enough interest

There is, even if only for education and inspiration.

Seriously – great work. Makes me glad I bought your Strike Legion games. ;)

MacrossMartin02 Dec 2015 9:10 p.m. PST

Great stuff! Certainly gets me thinking, in light of the recent kick upstairs that 30K has received, via the new starter.

Very well painted, great conversions. Impossible for me not to like.

Your photography is superb, too!

thorr – be careful, there are many things one can do with photos of old gf's.

Those Dreamforge titans are cool. I was eyeing their Mortis version:

Totally awesome forces!

KJdidit02 Dec 2015 9:22 p.m. PST

Yeah, might spring for one of those myself; wasn't available in 15mm when I bought the Crusader (I just left most of the armor plating off of it when I put it together). Excellent model kit – just be prepared for a lot of work (I recall the Crusader being a large number of pieces to assemble).

I have a few models in hand that I need to finish and add to the Chaos army (pink horrors, screamers and a Lord of Change); have most of the models, just don't have time to work on them right now (not to mention my actual Necron army, 4 other non-40K 15mm forces, two 6mm forces, a 30K Alpha Legion army, and a whole bunch of terrain).

Your photography is superb, too!

Thank you, but it's just fair. ;) Goes to show you can get decent results with a $90 USD camera and a $10 USD tripod, though. :p

Weasel02 Dec 2015 9:37 p.m. PST

Holy smokes, thats awesome.

ROUWetPatchBehindTheSofa03 Dec 2015 12:19 a.m. PST

Yes awesome.

Gnubrid03 Dec 2015 9:03 a.m. PST

Great work there.

Jimboba03 Dec 2015 11:04 a.m. PST

I think you and Gunner are quite mad (in the best possible way of course!)

darthfozzywig03 Dec 2015 4:10 p.m. PST

Karl, did you ever do Eldar? I saw your Grav Tank. Did you do any others?

KJdidit03 Dec 2015 4:17 p.m. PST

I have a weapons platform and two half-finished Wave Serpents; nothing else for them yet. One of next year's projects, to be sure. :)
