In 6mm, is there any real difference in uniform colour between British, Italian and DAK? What Vallejo colours would be most appropriate? Similar question re tanks and other vehicles. Thanks for any suggestions. Alan |

Here's a different question, "Does you want the colors of the uniforms to look slightly different so that you can tell them apart?" At 6mm, the main things you will see are boots, pants, shirt or coat, helmet, face and hands, and maybe a backpack. If you want to spend more time painting belts and webbing, then you have more skill and patience than I do. Consider that you are going to be 2-3 feet away from your pieces. In my experience, subtle differences were lost at that distance. My NATO West Germans are virtually indistinguishable from my NATO US troops, and I could have bought one set and used them for either army. My Soviets are a slightly different color, with different colored helmets and backpacks. I've no idea if that is historical, but it sure helps to tell them apart. |

Not really at 6mm That being said I did paint my Brits in Tamiya Khaki Drill and the DAK in Tamiya Desert Yellow |

The flat wide British helmet is the most distinguishing feature so I highlight that in light color to distinguish the national bases. |

The German tropical uniform worn in the desert was a light olive green or something. |

The google machine turns up all sorts of uniforms for Germans including the tropical green uniform and desert yellow. link The coloring on the officer looks spot on.

The DAK green uniform started off pretty dark, but faded quite rapidly. I used different colours my 6mm desert stuff – British in KD with very pale (light stone) helmets, Germans and Italians in more of an orangey desert yellow. |

Thanks again for the useful tips. Indeed, my desire is for some difference between the 3 forces. Is there any particular Vallejo colour which would best suit the Italians and DAK for a very basic uniform colour? I certainly do not intend to get down to painting the like of webbing, being a firm believer in the 3 feet rule. Alan |

You put those inf. figures in the typical semi-well-lit gaming convention room and you won't be able to tell them apart. |
