Hello
Can anyone recommend a good book or books on Sherman's campaign in the Carolinas in 1865? I already have a couple of books specifically on Bentonville.
Thank you

For NC, I think the books by Mark Moore (http://markandersonmoore.blogspot.com/)are great. I have the NC Civil War atlas on my Christmas list: link

OBTW, my Great-great grandfather was a Cavalryman from Raleigh that was captured by Sherman in Raleigh when it surrendered in '65. His name has always been a bit unpopular in the family.

You could try:

This Astounding Close; The Road to Bennett Place by Mark L Bradley. It deals with the final campaigns through the Carolinas and the surrender at Durham Station.

Another possible would be;

Out of the Storm: The End of the Civil War, April-June, 1865 by Noah Andre Trudeau. Not directly about the Carolinas but it does cover that area.

Thank you for your suggestions.

I have ordered the Bradley and Trudeau books (I recently read Trudeau's book about the march to the sea and enjoyed it very much). I've made a note to order the North Carolina Atlas when it is released.

Regards
