Since I saw the first trailer I have been excited by the new Star Wars film. The few seconds of footage of the Millennium Falcon chased across the wreckage strewn desert of Jakku by a pair of First Order TIE Fighters really buzzing.

Some of the members may recall that I created 'UFO Interception' a miniature game which allowed players to duel with WW2 Aircraft and UFOs. I realised it wouldn't take much effort to stat up the Millennium Falcon and the new First Order TIE Fighter (courtesy of the updated information provided by FFG for their X-Wing Game).

I found an old Revell Star Destroyer Kit and a Jupiter C Rocket platform on ebay as the scenery with a spare X-Wing and a TIE from Star Wars Armada converted on a pair of custom bases. The other models are from the new Micromachines series.

Today I organised a participation game down the local wargames / comic shop ‘Cheap Thrills' in Newport on the Isle of Wight, UK. The game went down well and everyone seemed to have a blast!

The highlight of the first game was when the lead TIE Pilot managed to knock out his own laser cannons after he over stressed the TIE and clipped the scenery and ended up face to face with the Millennium Falcon after the pilot pulled a half loop.

In the second game the pilot of the Millennium Falcon managed to sneak around the back of the crashed Star Destroyer just above ground level causing the TIE's to lose line of sight. The Millennium Falcon zoomed off in the opposite direction whilst the TIEs flew off the board still looking for him.

We will organise a follow-up event the week that the film is released.

Thanks guys!

Due to circumstances I have only got to play one game so far this year so I thought I would try to make it count!

With best wishes,
