High mighty exalted grand marshal of the never ending apocalypse. Or something like that. There is a new model out for this penultimate chaos commander. It seems like Abaddon should take some notes in case he wants to do a 14th Black Crusade. The model itself looks cool. Archaon-y as ever. The steed I'm less enthused about. I don't like the skulls coming out of its skin. I don't like that about the Korgorath either. Then there is the absence of a Slaaneshi head on the creature. How's that again? Nurgle. Check. Tzeentch. Check. Khorne. Check. Slaanesh. Slaanesh? Slaanesh?! Bueller? Bueller? I heard from my Liberator Prime's brother's best friend's armourer that his cousin saw her friend's mom's boyfriend and Slaanesh sneak off into a pocket dimension after vomiting up a bunch of souls at the Quickie Mart. Or maybe the Slaaneshi parts are in another place on the monster. That would make sense. There is a symbol of Slaanesh on the box at least. So I guess they aren't bailing out on the youngest of the Dark Powers totally. I bet we'll get a whole new tome down the road with Slaanesh in it. Slaanesh strikes back. I guess I got a little off track. Anyway, the Archaon thing is on the GW website. I don't have an undivided army any more and probably won't have anything bad ass enough in most of my games to fight this thing with so I'm not so likely to buy it. But it is good to see that GW is still plowing on with new releases for AoS. link Free rules for the thing in AoS here: PDF link |

Yeah, I had thought about this model, porting it back to 8th ed, but even at discount this thing is cray-cray expensive! Damon. |

The reason WHFB was tanking, huge models with ridiculous prices and units with 60+figures. Xin |

I guess you had to use 60+ models to fight those huge monsters, which isn't true with AoS. One thing I like about AoS is that all those huge monstrous creatures they made are usable in the game now. My Bloodthirster can run about causing havoc on the table without being so egregiously tough that no one in the Sigmarite army can harm him. I'll probably get the Glotkin at some point, I wouldn't have considered a model like that at all in 6th edition. We really steered away from things like that (greater demons and such like) and our games became like historical games with a little bit of magic. |

that's insane! No that is GW for you. They know that their Fanboys will buy them no matter what the price is. |

I guess you had to use 60+ models to fight those huge monsters, which isn't true with AoS. Yes, so GW just decided to go with expensive single models instead. AoS looks and plays just like Warmachine. Too bad that they had to kill off WFB to put it into place. |

Actually you can have a really good game with whatever models you have or want. That is the beauty of AoS, no points means that you can gauge the power level of what you are fielding yourself. In our games so far we've had the Bloodthirster show up twice and a giant dragon show up once. Other than that it has all been pretty much regular guys running around, plus the heroes. So no need to field either expensive single models or massive units of 60+. |

That is not what GW wants though. They want you to be buying 2-3 of those large models. Otherwise their profits are going to tank. |

I can't tell for sure what GW wants. They probably want to make a profit like every other business in existence. The game they have created works really well without the big badass units and without giant units of troops. If you want a relatively cheap, fast, narrative and good game to play AoS is it. Especially if you have an existing army. One really nice thing is that a lot of the horde armies, like undead and daemons, can be played with a lot of the models you already have with summoning rules and make for very exciting games as the enemy targets your summoners or the scenario requires the opponent to accomplish certain goals before being destroyed. |

"AoS looks and plays just like Warmachine." Mithmee, if you had actually played Warmachine you would not have written that. The two games exist on opposite ends of the skirmish gaming spectrum. AoS is fast and loose and narrative-driven. Warmachine was created specifically for the tournament scene, wherein players are rewarded for coming up with intricate combos of maneuver and activation. |

As an aside, this is a great time to be involved with fantasy battles with miniatures. For a really fun, fast skirmish game that supports narrative play with great models you can play Age of Sigmar. For a really fun, fast mass battles game with a tight rule set and many army list options, one can play Kings of War. Both do what WHFB didn't do. The only reasons I can think of a player complaining is if they possess an unreasoning hate for Games Workshop as an entity, or if they cannot do without the WHFB tournament scene. |

AoS looks and plays just like Warmachine. Never has a more untrue statement been uttered on TMP. This guy is either insane or a master troll. |
