A new period or setting for an existing rule set.

Let's say that the new period will involve some pretty significant rules changes, a lot of new options being added and so forth, rather than just a TO&E page and some weapon stats.

Do you prefer to buy a supplement or do you prefer to get it as a stand-alone game?

A: Supplement.

B: Stand-alone game.

C: I haven't bought a game since 1874 and I ain't about to start now.

B.

Though if you know WHO bought the original ruleset you could offer a PDF supplement for free or perhaps $5.00 USD.

Depends on the rules. Sometimes A, sometimes B.

It depends. Great War Spearhead worked fine both as a supplement and a stand alone set.

If the rule changes are very extensive, then a new set of rules may be better.

That's disconcertingly uniform for TMP :)

Martin – Spearhead is actually what got me thinking about it, since they did it both ways, Modern Spearhead being a standalone game while Great War was a supplement (though I think the supplement page count is bigger than the core rules :) )

D. Pdf and hard Copy…

wink

E. Both?

Okay, seriously, supplement if it is the same era.

Stand alone if it changes genre (Fantasy to SF) or era.

Yeah, I am that kind of guy.
