Yeah spring saw the end of my painting, worked a little on trees but cold days out will drive me inside as soon as my leaves are all cleaned up. I have a few unpainted to do. |

Brian, they look great, any tips on how to build them fast? Rather than tedious one rock at a time. |

Well, I guess the smart way would be to make one, then do a mold and cast them in resin or plaster. However, for me it was one tedious rock at a time. I did do one layer, went off and did some chore then came back and did another layer – worked quite well with a dozen pieces in play at once. |

Totally unrealistic! Those rocks don't look anything like real-… oh, wait. Seriously though, nice job. I enjoy projects like this. They're very engrossing and rewarding. I personally went with cast resin because I could crank them out faster, and as you noted above, building a scale fence stone-by-stone is very time consuming. I like your results better, though.
BTW, if you paint some PVA on a few stones and dip them in green ground foam, they look like they're covered in moss. It adds a nice bit of character to see just a few patches like that in a long fence line. - Ix |

Not just rewarding but quite therapeutic as well. The other day someone posted a blog post on a medieval house he made out of coffee stirrers and old card. One of the things I love about this hobby is making things out of old crap lying around. Like I said then – Wargamers are Recyclers. |

A number of years ago a gaming friend of mine took some largish rocks and glued them on bases, then glued flocking and grass looking foliage on. A little dry brush painting and they were good to go. A few months later at a convention someone looked at them and asking how he had made them as they looked like real rocks. He even picked them up for a closer look! We still joke about this. |
