Has anyone made any alterations to their Citadel game mat? I want to add some color variations to my mat and I was thinking of just gluing on some patches of various colored static grass and blending that in. Has anyone tried this or does anyone have a better idea that has worked for them? I have seen where a person used bleach, and that may be an option also. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks – Allen

how about just some different colors of spray paint?

I hung mine outside and used various aerosols to give it some variety. If using sand coloured sprays I first off gave that patch a zap with white first.

You know they no longer make them right? Just pointing it out, in case you did not know they are no longer readily available.

I sold three of them this year for £50.00 GBP a piece on ebay…

they are very sought after

I completed the alterations without any disasters. It ended up looking pretty good I think. I just wanted some subtle breaks in the color which I was able to achieve. I used a dark brown a tan and a dark green. I may go back and add a light green as well. I'll put up some pics when I get a second.

My advice would be to keep it just the way it is. They are one of the best quality static grass/rubber backing gaming mats out there, and as was said above GW no longer makes them. I'm hanging on to mine no matter what.

Instead I would go the drop-cloth or fabric route. Just buy a big piece of tarp or cloth and you can spray paint it and flock it in whatever colors you want.

To me, butchering a GW mat is unnecessary.
