I've been delving deeper into a period about which I have little knowledge (SYW as it happens).

I've been googling on Chrome, generally adding 'TMP' to the subject & turning up so very much expert opinion from past & present members.

This seems to work better than the TMP search engine.

My point is that TMP stands alone as a resource built up over years by its members. I know there'll be some follow-up posts about how we've lost so many good members & how TMP isn't what it once was but I think there is STILL great stuff being added.

No question. This is why I am still active on it despite many things I do not like. For all his faults as a moderator Bill created a very useful thing.

TMP is almost always the first place I check…..

And since getting a smart phone, I don't leave home without it….. wink

Too many past members … I hate seeing all those zzzzs

RavenscraftCybernetics23 Nov 2015 6:43 a.m. PST

many of those zzzzz's are dead.
:(

Back to the OP, yes, I've found that Google + TMP is much better than the TMP search function. Then again, Google dies have a slightly larger workforce and budget than Bill. grin

Time passes, and so have some of our best friends. Take note: it's important to make new friends, so we aren't left old and lonely.

But I agree with ochoin's OP. The knowledge and generosity of the members makes TMP a uniquely valuable site. The other day I posted a question about a very obscure subject (Brazilian Indian cosmetics, asamatteroffact) and got back two helpful, knowledgeable responses within 24 hours. I don't know anywhere else in the world that I can do that.

Agree with OP and KTravlos.

Yep, when i look for some info the number of times TMP comes out as first suggestion is staggering, so much great advice and knowledge on here.

I agree!

That, too! grin

Snap Kyoteblue – Allen's the first name that springs to mind at times like this. Can't believe it's been over a year already. :-(

He had a couple of decades on me, but we shared enthusiasms and a certain grumpy old man outlook. ;-) Sadly we rather drifted after his TMP banishment, but I do miss the old Bleeped text.

Has it only been a year, Dom? Seems longer.

This place is a diamond for information, and usually so quick as well, given its international reach, anytime of the day or night, replies usually within the 20-30 minute mark, thank you to everyone who's ever helped me out.

Although I would, of course, never wish him dead, Allen was a snarky, self-important bully, who got far too wound up about stuff that really doesn't matter, just my opinion, no more, or less, important than anyone elses, but I don't miss him at all.
