I've finally started my project to build Napoleons Carriage in a diorama setting. Here's the first installment showing how I have removed the door of the coach. More to follow….slowly though!

Well this looks like an interesting project. From the pictures it would appear the door you removed doesn't really have a seem/hinges to give a better cut…but you did a good job cutting it out. I've had experiences cutting out doors and hatches which were molded and not meant to be open. It would seem the plastic/resin was too thick when I propped them open…which yield some modification to look right. How did the door thickness look when you cut it out?

So if I'm following your correctly, your going to model the carriage as being ransacked by the Prussians? For your project do you plan on having the door swung open or off it hinges and lying on the ground? The one cool think about the door is the "N" logo.

Will be following your progress…good luck!

what a brilliant project. Let me immediately and urgently offer some advice though. The horses. Yes, in many an illustration glamorous white/grey but, at Genappe six Norman brown/bays (sources differ).

Four will do as that was all they brought to London in the end.

That model is an excellent version of something I have tried to study for some time now…on surprisingly limited information! One decent scale drawing and only two photos of something that was exhibited for decades

I simply must come back on this to encourage you. I have scratchbuilt the Tussauds and the Malmaison carriages and shown them here in 28mm. I think this kit version is very very good and just love the figures that come with it. I have never seen such close up images of the kit and I think your images are better than the manufacturer's. Had it existed when I started my project…..

Well, let me just say I have never…ever…seen this famous incident, the capture, portrayed in model form. I hope any readers will correct me, but your work could be unique.

Research it. Napoleon was miles away when the coaches were captured. He did not leap out one side, leaving his hat behind, whilst etc etc….

You'll have fun checking out which dragoon regiment and then infantry unit did plunder it. Readily available on line and I have it all saved somewhere if you need info.

I had intended to do this for both coaches, but I chickened out and showed it for neither. Go for it!

Really looking forward to this

I have this model – brought for me as a present by my then girlfriend. Still not made up or painted. Your work is inspiration to get me going with the model. Cheers.

It's a lovely looking carriage and the figs look great. My one criticism is Warlord's horses – the proportion of head and neck look all wrong or is that just me?
