Hi all,

I am about to take the plunge and get some of the Afghan regulars from Artisan for my BFE Afghan War collection. I am not the biggest fan of the design of the figures from what I can tell in pictures as the rifles are held close to the breach and so a long, thin rifle extends forward and seems at risk of damage.

Is the metal hard enough to not worry about this design element? Otherwise I think the models are very good and frankly are the only option other than the old Foundry range.

I have some of the rifles and you shouldn't have any problem at all.

Can't speak to the Afghan regulars but I just finished 20 of Artizan's Pathans with muskets and rifles. They were nice to paint and as Cyrus stated, the rifles and muskets will pose no problem.

As a side note, they are just a little taller than OG or Foundry NWF figures but should fit on the table just fine.

Yes, the rifles are fine. They are thinner than an Artizan sculpted WW2 rifle, but they hold up.

There are some excellent Afghans now in a Kickstarter campaign which ends within a few days.

It is for the 1st Afghan War, but I think Afghans look just the same for a long period. Say from early 19th C up to early 20th C.
And should be about the same size as Foundry and OG. The sculptor is an ex-Foundry sculptor, Mr. Nick Colier.

Thanks for the feedback.

I have some Artizan Afghans and some from Studio Miniatures (Kickstarter mentioned above) and they match well and I am very fussy about size difference.

Artizan figures are robust (unlike bayonets on the otherwise lovely Iron Duke Indian Mutiny figures for example) No problems with rifles or bayonets snapping.

Thanks again….this information is important to me. The best figure in the world with a weak design element is useless to me. I simply do not understand why figure designers make figures that, while beautiful, cannot be used in war-games even with careful handling without bending or damage. I am super careful with my figures.

So, again, the info provided here is really appreciated.

Chris
